I finally did it - I dyed my hair Vampire Red and I LOVE it
So my hair color is light brunette with the occasional blonde highlight. I have wanted to dye my hair red for the last ten years, and with quarantine, I was like - screw it - it's time to take the plunge. I went with manic panic Vampire Red because I didn't want it to be permanent, but I also wanted a pretty intense red. Here is what I learned. By the way, keep in mind that I diluted the manic panic with conditioner, so your results may be COMPLETELY different if you just use the dye with no dilution. Positives: 1. Easy application I honestly know nothing about dying hair, and it turned out amazing regardless. 2. NO BLEACH NEEDED!! (see before and after picture) Look, obviously if you want that red to match the color on the container, you're gonna have to bleach your hair. But it looks awesome without it too, which I can't say about all hair dyes! 3. It didn't destroy my hair! Actually, my hair felt amazing after application. Not to mention I have thin, delicate hair that I'm deathly paranoid of damaging (for fear that I might lose what I have!). 4. The dye smells awesome! AND it's vegan! Negatives: 1. It bleeds. Everywhere. I'm lucky that my towels and sheets are all dark because HOLY MOLY this thing bleeds for weeks after the initial dye job. Even when I got sweaty during exercise, some of the droplets were pinkish red! I don't even want to imagine what would happen if I got in a chlorinated pool! I mean, I expected as much because it's semi-permanent, but man. It's stubborn to get off surfaces, and it never did come out of my one set of light colored sheets. Make sure you have some bleach and a magic eraser handy, because I would have stained everything I loved if I wasn't careful. 2. It has pink undertones, which can make it fade strangely. Now this may not actually be a negative for you, but it was for me since I wanted browner undertones. To each their own though. Overall, this was a cheap and fantastic choice. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is curious!

Worked on black hair.
We were skeptical but it worked well compared to other brands. Was used on natural black hair and the color actually showed. We kept it on for 2.5 hours.

Vibrant and works great!
I have been a manic panic fan for many, many years now. I have dark brown hair that has some lighter pieces from a balayage that I had done about 6 months ago. I use this over my entire head. I try to stay away from my scalp but it inevitable gets there because I have a lot of gray which I like to cover with this product. It will stain towels and clothes but I think that is to be expected when dying your own hair. Even though, it takes a VERY long time to wash the dye out, I think it's totally worth it. Lasts for 2 months or so and slowly fades into a lighter pink on my lightest pieces. I will continue to buy this product.

Awesome BRIGHT hair dye!
My kid really wanted to dye their hair bright red so we settled on this color/brand, and I’m so glad we did! He has naturally dark/sandy blonde hair and we didn’t lighten it first so I was really thinking it would end up faded orange or something but it turned out perfectly! We got the vampire red and it’s literally just as bright as I’d assume it would’ve been had we bleached it first (or at least super close). We left it on for 40 mins and rinsed twice, once just to get most of the dye out and then again with a bit of shampoo so it wouldn’t be as brutal on his clothes/skin/pillowcase with the initial staining that always comes with using these bright dyes, and I think it really helped (for those who haven’t used this kind of bright dye before, expect it to stain stuff for a while, it’s just part of it, imo). He’s shampooed it twice since and it’s only faded slightly and is still bright and awesome. Highly recommend.

My favorite semi-permanent hair dye OF ALL TIME
My favorite semi-permanent hair dye OF ALL TIME. This is my color. Vampire Red is more on the pinkish side when it fades, but I am 100% fine with it. I prefer pink fade instead of orange fade with most other red dyes. You can mix this with conditioner (the more conditioner, the lighter it will be) and if you're going over box color, I recommend doing it that way. I've done it over dark brown, burgundy, dark & light purple, and dark red. Gives your box color a nice sheen of Vampire Red over top of it. I typically will mix with conditioner to give my hair a refresher in between dye jobs, and as you know, red is one of the hardest colors to maintain. Though if you're putting this on bleached or lightened hair, I don't recommend mixing with conditioner unless you want a more pastel version of this color. I'd say leave it in for at least an hour, but I've gone up to 4 hours before, and I know some people go overnight too. It's vegan and not harsh on your hair at all. You do have to be careful with this dye. It will STAIN everything. Wear gloves when you apply it, and make sure you cover important surfaces like sink or toilet with newspaper before dying your hair with this. Wrap your head in a towel before getting out of the shower, because if your wet hair drips on the tub and you don't catch it, it'll probably end up dying that too. It may seem like a pain, but it's really not that hard to get it everywhere if you're careful. It will rub off on your pillowcase too (usually only if your hair is still wet when you lie down), so you also have to be careful there as well. Sounds like a lot, but I think the color is worth it.

Love the color
I had gotten both the Vampire red and Raven black. I planned on doing a split dye to my hair but nothing went according to plan. Oh my hair was split all right but the red decided to seep with the black and create a really dark purple (which was very close to black). Now what’s the problem you may ask! Well there wasn’t a problem necessarily it was more of an annoyance. So here I am butt crack deep in hair dye, everything going wrong. I had just started to wash the dye out after like 2 hours and wasn’t paying much attention. I got out of the shower and went up to the mirror and peered in. Yoh and behold this purplish monster standing before me with its hair in front of its face and dripping with shower water. The most gruesome bitch face I’ve ever seen on anything’s face. As I stared back at it it’s scrawl only became deeper. I looked behind me and turned back around only to realize “wait a damn minute where is my reflection!?” I looked deeper beneath the purple…lifted my hands in front of my eyes and peered at the offensive purple appendages. I was purple! Mind you I used gloves to put it in my hair. The same could not be said about rinsing it out though. And so I finish up and walk out about to head to work because I had work…yea stupid I know! When I got there my manager took one look at me and started laughing. Crying even. I was sent back home to freshen up again. I came back looking a now sickly blue color and all my coworkers were now dying at this image of me. I was dishwasher for the rest of the day (I work food industry fyi and tend to chat with most of the customers). Moral of the story please pay attention to how you are rinsing your hair, my leg hair follicles have never been the same since then! I still live in constant fear of the purple monster in the mirror every time I look into the mirror.

Good but with a few cautions.
This is for Vampire Red MP: On the one hand, it will dye your hair VERY BRIGHT red. On the other, it lasts that VERY bright shade of red for about 1-2 washes and then rapidly fades to an eventual pinkish color that simply won't leave. Or at least that's how it worked for me. I had naturally light hair, highlighted blonde. The best experience I've had with manic panic was using it as pastels. I had rose-gold color from mixing cotton candy pink + psychedelic sunset + equal amount of conditioner and it was gorgeous. Mix it up with conditioner and leave on for 30 min and it dyes pastel beautifully. It also conditions the hair and feels fantastic. When using it as a pastel it lasts on my hair approx 4 weeks and then it's gone like it was never there. When I used MP Vampire Red straight it was still a unflattering pink after 12 weeks of every color removing trick in the book.... so yeah. I ended up having to go to a salon to fix it but they couldn't bleach the rest out so I ended up dying over it. Moral of the story is that it's great when used as a pastel, you probably have to start with blonde hair, and if you use it undiluted on bleached hair you very well might never get it out!

Great product
Great product, does the job! A little bit on the runny consistency. I’d recommend 2 packs for medium hair.

Deep color
I love this dye! The color comes out as a gorgeous deep red and looks super vibrant, especially on lighter hair. It’s easy to apply, smells fine, and leaves my hair feeling soft. The only downside is that it fades pretty quickly and can stain, but honestly, it’s worth it for how bold and pretty the color is.

Couleur vibrante et brillante
Très jolie couleur, elle tient assez bien (en général je la refais tous les 1 mois 1/2 et un pot me fait deux usages sur cheveux mi-long).
