Perseverance (and a little help from a friend) pay off for an aspiring young gymnast in this winning entry in the I Like to Readยฎ series. Ella is in awe of Jan, the star of her gymnastics class. Jan can spin and leap on the balance beam. Can Ella? Her first attempt is a failure, and Ella is ready to give up. But Jan is a star at friendship too; and with her encouragement, Ella tries again--and succeeds! This is the perfect book for girls learning to read. The adorable, leotard-clad young gymnasts fill the pages with action; and the story offers valuable, age-appropriate lessons in kindness, sportsmanship, and how important it is to try, try again. An I Like to Read(R) book. Guided Reading Level D. Review: Perfect - My daughter is learning to read, and just started gymnastics. We got this for her birthday and she loves it! Loves reading it to us. Wish I could have found in hardcover that wasnโt used Review: Great for practicing sight words. - Bought this for my kindergarten age niece. She was excited and her mom was happy it had many of her sight words she needs to practice. Someone else said it is disjointed sentences, this is by design so the child can practice reading 3-4 word sentences.

Great starter book!
I bought this for my daughter and she LOVES it. Every time I ask her to grab some books to read, she always picks this book. Itโs the first book she has read all by herself and it has helped to boost her confidence with reading more.

Great reading book for Kindergarten level!
This book is great for my little Kindergarten gymnast. It is at the perfect reading level for her with pages like "Jan can do a split", "Jan can pose". Easy ready for a kindergartner to read on their own. I am going to look into buying more books from the "I like to read" series. RECOMMEND!
