Yes, this would work. However we would highly recommend that the unit be installed in the vertical position, so that the condensation from the shower does not sit in the bottom of the housing.

Q: can this be installed outdoors?

No these units are not to be installed outdoors. We do have an EXT (External Mount Fan) that is mounted outside of the house.Thank youCrystal

Nice quiet fan

Replaced a builder's special ceiling mounted bathroom fan with a Continental fan in the attic and all I can hear now is a slight woosh of air moving. Good thing the fan is on a timer switch or else would forget to turn it off.
