Got abit bored of using coconut oil and ghee (which a good ghee is expensive) and won't ever use the nasty ultra processed veg oils. So was looking for a good quality alternative and came across our farm beef dripping and it is excellent, gives a great taste to my food and no nasty processing just good honest beef dripping. I do a conivor diet so this one was just right for me as it is a good quality one and not overly expensive. Got on a offer aswell for Β£3.49 a jar so ordered 6. I haven't used seed oils for over a year now because of the ultra-processing, but cold pressed olive oil or butter just don't give the right flavour for some things. For meats, this is fantastic! For casseroles (such as beef goulash, or beef in ale or beef ribs in red wine) I always sear the meat first and this gives an exceptional flavour to the end product. For frying a chop or steak, absolutely perfect. Polyunsaturated fats are prone to oxidise and become toxic when heated, though they will oxidise in contact with the oxygen in the air even at room temperature, albeit more slowly. Omega-6 fatty acids also tend to be pro-inflammatory. Yes, certain omega-6 fats are essential for human health, but the standard Anglian, American, Australian... diet or S.A.D. has too high a proportion of them. With cheap versions of beef fat (tallow) you also don't know what other gubbins you might be ingesting via the food chain. **Q: Any grains fed to the cows? Thanks** A: I could not guarantee that no grains were fed to animals, as a retired farmer i woud say that the main diet would be grass, but i would supplement with grain concentrate through the winter. **Q: Is there any rosemary extract in this lard** A: No rosemary extract in the dripping! It is a delicious product which makes superb roast potatoes! **Q: Is this true tallow rendered from suet, or from other subcutaneous fat?** A: I believe it’s subcutaneous fat as it has a golden tinge that builds up from beta-carotene deposition, and caul fat from around the kidney is white.
