Review: Operating System Concepts - It has been many years since I purchased a book on computer operating concepts and undoubtedly there have been developments in this subject in the intervening years. Books on this subject are often very expensive and the newer editions of this book are no exception. I was not prepared to shell out a load of money for a reference book that I would infrequently refer to. I therefore sought an earlier version in pristine condition and that meant buying secondhand. I got lucky and found this edition from an desertcart bookseller. Furthermore, it was in an 'as new' condition and did not cost the earth. It may not contain the very latest information but the differences, if any, will be very small. It was the common sense choice given my limited budget. This book, as far as I can judge, is well written, embodies a wide range of related sub topics, is comprehensive and up to date and sufficiently detailed to satisfy the most avid technical reader, like myself. I also rather like the cute dinosaur motif on the cover. It will probably be another 10 years before I buy another such book I see no point in spending a great deal of money on a book of this type when there are excellent examples such as this available. I am happy to recommend this book if all the purchaser seeks is an overview of operating system concepts. However, it maybe lacking in some detail for the professional reader who, I expect, would have access to a far larger budget. Review: Good investment. - Delivery was quick and the book is in excellent condition. Highly recommend!

Text book for computing uni modules.
Text book bought for university module. Condition was good, delivered on time. Never really ever figured out why dinosaurs were used for the cover but given this is for OLDER computer systems. You could say the cover ahead of its time in that those computers would be historic! Always reminded me of The Land before Time movie! Text was clear, weight of book was heavy, hard back book but did what a book was supposed to, share knowledge.

Great Book!
If you want to know how it all works, this book is for you. It has amazing detail and brings you though every single aspect of an operating system. I have nothing bad to say about this book. After buying this, it paints the full picture about whats going on, great for any beginners or advanced students.
