Best dark roast on the market
As someone who usually needs three cups of coffee just to find my keys, Death Wish Dark Roast is a total game-changer. It’s incredibly bold but surprisingly low in acidity—no stomach jitters or bitter aftertaste. Just one cup gives me a smooth, sustained energy boost that lasts through my toughest morning meetings. It's the ultimate productivity hack.

Great Start to the Morning.
My Death Wish Coffee arrived promptly Wednesday afternoon, and I had to wait until this morning to taste and review, as I did not want to spend the wee hours of Thursday morning spinning around the house like a whirling dervish, waking the children as I came down off my Death-Wish tweak.. As it turns out, I probably would not have torn the drywall off the studs, or ripped up the hardwood floors looking for treasure, but what I did find, was a great cup of coffee this morning. I brewed my Death Wish to spec, with a 2.5 TB scoop, and used my Vietnamese Coffee Filter Set. I did not want any paper filter, no rubber or plastic to interfere with my brewing, and I have perfected the grind and the timing to get a perfect, full-bodied cup of coffee from this set. Coffee smelled great out of the bag, and after grinding, filled the kitchen with a great dark-coffee aroma. I have become enough of a coffee snob to smell fresh beans from old, and believe it or not, the sound they make falling into the burr grinder is tell-tale of fresh stock or old. These seemed fresh to me, and the box had a best-by date of May 2017. Nothing on the bag itself to indicate the roast/pack date, and that is something that I would like to see, but nonetheless, the beans seemed fresh. Burr-Grinder set to just two clicks shy of medium-fine, and the ground coffee was jet black and smelled great. Not as "dark" smelling as a French Roast or Espresso, but darker tones for sure. Not as much chocolate and walnuts as was described, but a good scent. Just off the boil, at 202 degrees I bloomed the initial pour with a half ounce for twenty seconds, and then filled up the 8cm Filter to the top. Timer set for 4 minutes, and when the timer went off, I was just at the very end of the brew, and I added another two ounces of water at 195 degrees, to complete the last thirty seconds. Typically I will brew just the 8cm and add hot water Americano-style, but for this initial test, I wanted full strength with grind-pour only. Initial sip had great dark nose, not very floral, no cherries or fruit for me, but a nutty, burnt-toast sip. The smell paired nicely with dark-roast properties, and I had a good balance of nose and flavor, right from sip one. Overall, this roast had similar notes to a French as far as the flavor, and I suspect these guys experimented a great deal with just how close they could get to the precipice before they over-roasted the beans, and ended up with beans that were too well done. As far as the caffeine levels go, I am going to be honest and admit to being a 10-12 cup a day guy, so I did not notice any crazy uptick in my heightened awareness, or cosmic intervention that was brought on by the surplus of caffeine in the beans. I purposely brewed with my stainless filter kit, so I did not take away any oil, flavor, or have any taste properties tainted by outside flavor-changers. I brewed full-strength, per instructions, and ended up with a dark, great-tasting brew, but cannot report any real caffeine-related differences physiologically. The coffee tasted really good, seemed freshly roasted- based on smell, color and bean condition, and I did not end up with a lot of chaff or unwanted extras within the grinding process. I will report back and update if I do notice any extra jolt this coffee provides, but I feel my caffeine intake is high enough, this is not going to be a selling point for me personally. The bottom line for me is taste, and this is good coffee, which I enjoyed.

Pretty good taste. Reasonable price.
Pretty good coffee. And reasonably priced, considering what everything costs now, for 16 oz. bag. Will buy again.

Hesitantly, I say freeze these beans for storage.
I have known of this coffee since middle school, the years when it began to take off with a couple famous YouTuber endorsements, back in the days when I used to watch YouTube as a kid. And the wait to actually trying it . . . .was well worth it. 5 star coffee and 5 star organic quality with still a robust and dark roast to enjoy with milk and sugar. I have yet to try a cup of black straight death wish. The energy is a smooth hit of caffeine, exactly as strong as I had hoped in ordinance with the 2.5tbsp/6oz product guideline. The flavor of the brew shows a precise overtaking of the milk and sugar that I opted to add with my first cup. (2%) Leaving ultimately a wonderful blend of the roast's ambitious flavor in the mouth that makes me excited for a dark cup of brew. The freshness of the beans upon opening and throwing into my burr grinder, left minuscule room for improvement, in expectation of a dreamy but standard pungent quality of freshness with likeness to my normal titan-brand Starbucks cup. I conclude and adorn with the authentic organic quality of this roast/blend. It feels light on my coffee-seasoned stomach, light as air, and on my first morning tired-and-miserable cup of daily coffee. Good for the bones. I leave you readers with "A 6-star striving cup of coffee, on the standard scale of 5." Designed to give yourself the edge you need in that cup of coffee, and smooth as ever.

Delicious but not especially strong coffee.
I ordered this coffee based on the claim that it's the strongest coffee in the world because I drink both coffee (especially iced coffee) and tea, was curious, and wanted to try something new. I received whole bean coffee instead of ground coffee, which could have been my mistake when I placed my order. I wasn't disappointed to receive whole beans and just had to buy a coffee grinder before I could enjoy this coffee. I know that whole beans give you a fresher flavor, so I didn't mind grinding the beans myself. This coffee smells great and tastes delicious. I like to use the finest setting when I grind the beans to get the most flavor. Perfect with breakfast and great with cake and other desserts. Definitely a dark, bold, rich flavor. I love that it's organic and fair trade, even though that means this coffee is more expensive than coffee you'd buy at the grocery store. The price is a little expensive for me, and I wouldn't buy this coffee exclusively all the time, but I'm glad I tried it, and I'll likely buy it again. I've seen 1-pound bags of whole beans and even two-packs (two 1-pound bags together) for less, but some Starbucks coffee is more expensive, so the price falls somewhere in the middle and toward the higher end. However, I don't know if it's really the strongest coffee in the world. I follow the instructions on my coffee grinder, which say to use 3 tablespoons of whole beans for 4 cups of coffee, which is usually how much my fiance and I make for the two of us. Maybe I should follow the recommendation of the seller and try 2.5 tablespoons of grounds per 6 oz. of water. I've even had this coffee between dinner and going to bed, and I don't think it has prevented me from falling asleep. I guess I expected to feel a significantly stronger caffeine boost, but I didn't feel any different from when I drink other types of coffee. However, I was a pretty heavy coffee drinker until earlier this year. I usually drink Dunkin' Donuts dark roast iced coffee, and I used to drink so much coffee that my brain was addicted to the caffeine. If I didn't drink coffee, I would get headaches from caffeine withdrawal. Since fiance and I moved in April, I'm no longer conveniently located near a Dunkin' Donuts between my house and work, and I don't go out of my way to get coffee in the morning. When I'm home, I drink tea more than coffee. If I tried this coffee again now after months of backing off the amount of coffee I used to drink or if I wasn't a regular coffee drinker, then maybe I would feel the caffeine boost more strongly. Overall, I really enjoy the smell and taste of this coffee. It ended up being a pleasant surprise to receive the whole bean coffee, and I'm encouraged to buy only whole beans from now on. This coffee is perfect in the morning with or without breakfast. I can't confirm that it's the strongest coffee in the world, but it's a good cup of coffee that's worth a taste.

Si es fuerte si, pero nada que no sea soportable
El café es fuerte y suave. Quizás le falte un toque de amargor para mi gusto. Pero en general bastante bien.

The finest tasting coffee I have ever tried
Well, after reading the previous reviews, I thought this coffee was worth a try. There appear to be two sides on the review platform; those who don't think it's that strong, and those who are so affected by the caffeire that they must be wimps! For what it's worth, here is my opinion of this wonderful coffee! True, it is strong, but it is definitely not bitter. Some coffee producers use a lot of "robusta" beans to give their coffee a kick - the more robusta beans, the more bitter the coffee. I would guess there isn't very much robusta in the Death Wish, in fact it's probably the finest tasting coffee I have ever tried. It is darkly roasted and has a wonderfully rounded flavour that plays with the taste buds. This is where it gets interesting; as the flavour casual
