Almost my favorite knife...
This was my 2nd Spyderco, after an Ambitious. This is much nicer, and the little Ambitious is no slouch. - pros - Weight. Forget numbers, this thing just feels like it's filled with helium. I have lighter knives, but they all -feel- heavier in the hand and pocket. Yeah, I know, very scientific. Either way, it carries great. Blade. Full flat ground, VG-10, awesome profile, very nice fit and finish from the factory (although not quite as sharp as I feel it should have been). Geometry was a perfect fit for my Sharpmaker on the 30 degree setting. Handle. Just the right size for my hand, and a great shape. It's comfortable to hold and fondle, and everything feels naturally placed. I also actually like the FRN feel, and prefer it over the G10 in my Skyline and Ambitious. It also allows for some awesome color choices, and I love orange knives. I liked it so much I went out and bought a blue Endura4 after this purchase. Fit/Finish. Thumb hole is not sharp (but still catches the thumb as designed), the pivot was perfect from the factory (no play, but still able to be flicked open), no vertical play, blade centering is good... really no issues with the f/f on this knife at all. - cons - The blade has a safety choil on it, robbing you of cutting edge length. This also keeps you from murdering your finger when you close the knife, so maybe it's a decent trade off. The total blade length is also short when handle size is considered. My Kershaw Skyline packs a longer cutting edge in the same size package, for instance, and my Spyderco Ambitious packs the same cutting edge length in a much shorter package. The blade shape minimizes the importance of this problem, and I usually don't find myself wishing I had a bigger knife. Black clip. I don't like the black clips Spyderco puts on the Delica/Endura. The paint wears and looks shoddy after a while, and I would much prefer a stainless clip matched to the blade. I may buy a few Byrd knives and trade the clips out. - thoughts - I was carrying a Kershaw Skyline almost 100% before I got this, and it's still my favorite knife. However, this comes very close, which is something nothing else has been able to do before. The Delica is a better knife, but it cost me more... so depending on the circumstances I'll carry one or the other. I only prefer the Skyline because of the ergonomics and the flipper design (more fun). Really happy owning both. And they're both orange :)

Still Popular for a Reason
This knife is still a popular choice for a reason. It's simple, constructed well, affordable, razor sharp, and the blade came in centered. The overall design of the knife makes it a fantastic slicer, and it fits wonderfully in the hand. Its grippy handle means that you'll have a hard time putting it down, let alone having to worry about it slipping from your hand. The locking mechanism is strong and sturdy, yet easy to close one handed. The cut out hole in the blade, or spider hole as I've heard it called, assists in deploying the blade fast. Overall, this knife is one that I never leave home without it.

Yet more praise
After many hours of cruising knife forums and reading reviews of "best EDC blades" I finally decided the Delica 4 was the best cost-to-benefit ratio. I then proceeded to order the Spyderco Persistence because my budget was tight and it cost about half as much. Yep, you know the old saying "you get what you pay for". Don't get me wrong, the Persistence if a great knife for thirty dollars. But it did not overwhelm me as what I really wanted. So a week later, wallet in pain for spending $60 on a knife (I thought the idea was insane not long ago) I jumped in and ordered the Delica 4. NOW I`m overwhelmed! I mean it's still a knife, and it doesn't make me dinner or clean the house, but it's a darn good knife and worth every penny. That's coming from someone who usually only shops for clothes at thrift stores. It feels awesome in the hand, has great jimping and traction, locks up good, looks great, perfect size, out of the box it slices the printing off paper without going through. I could go on. Spyderco nailed this one as the perfect EDC knife (as many have known for years ... so, I`m slow to the game. At least I arrived). I was a little skeptical about the orange color because computer monitors can make colors look different than real life. Not to worry - it's a great color that's not too bright or too dull, and may help prevent me "donating" it to someone else by leaving it lay around. Now for a way to keep it this sharp ... I`m feeling a Spyderco Sharpmaker review coming on :) I`m no long time Spyderco fanboy either, it wasn't long ago I thought the "spyder hole" was ugly, awkward, and unnecessary. Some time in watching all the video reviews my perception changed and now I'm hooked for the better. Edit: Oct 6, 2013 Still have no plans to replace it as my EDC. But for full disclosure, I have since noticed that there is some play both side to side and up/down. Mind you it is completely unnoticeable during normal use, but when I intentionally set out to find it, it's there. My $30 Persistence actually locks up like one solid piece of metal. But that one is thicker and heavier too, so not directly comparable. I'm still keeping it 5 stars. I`m 100% satisfied I bought the Delica4, the play is well within any reasonable tolerance level for it's intended purpose (light to medium EDC) so that is what counts to me.

A knife that doesn't make my pants sag? Yeah that is a thing.
Absolute gem of a knife. First time I have spent more than 20-30 bucks on a knife and glad I did. Light enough that I can wear with elastic or draw string pants or shorts without my pants sagging. Was bought for that purpose and does it flawlessly. Has a great simple grind. I like the flat grind for the more precise, light, exact cuts I will be using it for. Pretty easy to sharpen. Blade does sweep in a bit towards the bolster making it a little more challenging to sharpen as you get close to the grip. That part of my knives usually doesn't get used so it isn't terrible. This knife is not a rapid deplying self defense style knife, but could be used in a pinch. This is more of a comfortable to every day carry knife that will be great for every day tasks, or could save your life in a pinch. Having a knife you will carry is more important that owning a knife perfect for a task, but you don't carry it because it makes your pants fall off or your pockets bulging and full.

The Delica 4 is perfect. Good price on Amazon.
The Delica 4 is my favorite every day carry knife. Watch video reviews online (10/10 from Nutnfancy!). I just received this orange handled FFG bladed variation and I love it. The orange color is beautiful and makes my other orange knife handles look ... muddy orange. The Delica4 feels perfect in my hand; I think this is due to the curved shape of the handle. I have heard that the Delica can feel small in some people's hands. The Delica will be more comfortable to carry in your pocket, but if you have bigger hands you may want to go for the Endura4 FFG which is a larger Delica4 FFG. If you're that big, then maybe an Endura will carry for you like a Delica does for me. I carried a sabre ground black blade combination edge Delica4 for the last year and a half. This orange handled variation has a full flat ground blade. While the sabre ground blade is a little beefier than the FFG blade, the cutting performance of the FFG is noticably better. In my opinion the FFG is also easier to resharpen. I have found that I don't normally use the serrated portion of the blade on my first delica. In fact, for every day use I find myself wanting more of the plain edge to the extent that the serrations seem to get in the way. I like the blade lockup. No wiggle. I have never released the backlock unintentionally: in addition to the placement of the lock, there is a dent/detent in the metal that helps to prevent accidental release of the blade. The thumb hole (spyderhole?) used to open the knife is great. My thumb has slipped off of thumbstuds, but never a thumbhole.

Not easily impressed, but.......
I purchased this knife in September of 2015. Dealing with Amazon was great. I live in rural Alabama and had the knife 2 days after placing the order. In short, I am very pleased with my purchase. I'm 57 years old and have always purchased low cost knives for every day carry thinking I wouldn't be upset if I lost, broke or damaged them. Well, I finally had enough of sharpening a knife every time I used it and I decided I would spend more money for something that might hold an edge. I researched the different brands, sizes, steels, shapes, etc. I'm not easily impressed but am I glad I bought this knife! It has been nothing short of superb. I needed something to sharpen it. I went through a number of sharpeners. Then I finally splurged and purchased a knock-off copy of the Edge Pro Apex -- big mistake. Broke the second time I used it. A buddy of mine told me to try his real Edge Pro Apex -- I did and ordered one from Amazon that night. As usual I received it in short order (Amazon is fantastic). Back to the Delica 4. I put a crazy sharp edge on the knife. The VG 10 steel is easy to sharpen and holds the edge for a long time. I use this knife multiple times every day. I touch-up sharpen it about every 2 or 3 weeks. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes and I mean it's crazy sharp! Check out Nutnfancy's videos on YouTube for both the knife and the sharpener. The grip on the handle of the knife makes it easy to use when it's wet. The pocket clip can be moved to 4 different positions so it's great for myself and my left handed wife. I have large hands and the knife, partially due to the texture, fits well in my hand and can be easily carried clipped to your pocket. I'm so glad I bought this knife.

Great All Around EDC Knife.
Can’t say much that has not already been said about the Delica. It’s thin, sharp, comfortable to carry and use, and immensely practical. It’s a big version of their small ladybug type designs. I’m comparing it to the Native, who’s design I slightly prefer. What I like about the Delica it that it’s thinner in pocket and cuts / slices better. It’s thin blade is better for normal tasks and food prep if you’d use it for that. I like the lower finger grip on the Native. I like it’s massively thick blade. More of and indestructible tool. I got the Delica after the Native as I’d always wanted to try one. It feels great in hand. It’s heavier than you’d think with the metal plates inside the handle. It’s very solid. Not as strong as the Native. That is what makes it cut so well. Longer overall and longer (more useful) blade. 2 directional FRN handles are very secure. Maybe I need a FRN Native. It’s why we usually have more than one. Great knife. Everyone should own a few.
