Packs up much smaller than expected, more function in less complexity than predicted
It works very well for what I got it for - which is an emergency shovel for snowstorms to keep in the car, since the little miniature plastic ones that they sell at service stations are too small and fragile, and a large metal garden shovel would take up too much space in the back of the car. I also do a lot of camping, and I can DEFINITELY see this taking up a lot of the slack currently done by a variety of other tools when i am camping or backpacking. All firewood needs should be taken care of by the axe and saw segments - any situation where a person needs to be straight up splitting enormous logs with a wedge axe for firewood rather than simply gathering and cutting small pieces and using an axe or saw like this to gather dry branches from fallen trees is less "camping" and more "actually living in the woods." The flatness of the axe would make splitting wood more difficult than any axe with a wedge, but if necessary one could make do still. I was positively surprised by the sharpness on arrival - the axe blade, saw teeth, and knife were all well sharpened. I anticipated needing to sharpen them myself but it seems like that will not be necessary until i have used it a bit. This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but I am glad that it is as short as it is fully assembled, as well. Most everything needed to be done with it can be easily accomplished at its maximum length (many things, such as axe-chopping or shoveling, would actually be more difficult if it were longer). About the only task I can really think of that would truly, gtreatly benefit from the length of an additional segment would be the "hoe" configuration, and I don't do much gardening, so simply not having to carry around an extra, pointless, not particularly HEAVY but not WEIGHTLESS either, segment of handle. I suppose using the knife on the end for an ambitious individual who wants to attempt spearfishing with a METAL spear would be another activity that would benefit from the extra length. or practically any situation where you are using the tool as a defensive implement (whether in spear, axe, or shovel style) would ALSO benefit from extra range, but like... it is not a weapon, it is not built to fend off wild animals, and if other people are attacking you just HAVING a tool like this (as opposed to a stick, rock, or pocket knife) might be an advantage of some sort but let's face facts: you have MUCH bigger problems than it being half a foot shorter than you'd like. So it's the correct length for all of the things it is actually FOR, and slightly shorter than possibly desired for all sorts of uses I wouldn't recommend trying anyway. I have been showing it off to my buddies who are also into camping liike I am that kid on the block who got a NES, and if that is not a good enough endorsement for anyone who remembers the NES - or if you don't know what an NES is - then we weren't really on the same wavelength anyway? IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU except... if you were in the wilderness, no possessions but the green tunic on your back and you entered a nearby cave, and the man inside gave you this shovel and said only, "IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE. TAKE THIS." Never saying a single other word, forcing you to go alone (unless you are the sort of protagonist who talks with shovels - i don't judge) PROBABLY because the old guy feels safe in his barren, two-torch and no bed cave, safer than he would traversing those wilderness areas anyway... What I am saying is you would be grateful to that nameless, cryptic old dude for giving you this awesome shovel. It can dig holes, chop brush and wood, do some minor sawing, and it is most likely PRETTY DECENT at fighting off skeletons and bats and moblins.

Best E-Tool I’ve Ever Owned
Bought this for my car, because living in Alaska sometimes digging yourself or someone else out. I’ve broken many a collapsing etool over the years, and they’ve been murder on my back, with short handles and minimal reach. This thing is a marked improvement over older models. First off the handle is longer than most folding models, but because it’s modular you can shorten it up to reach into smaller places (like behind wheels etc). The rubber seals and threads create a very firm, stable attachment that makes the shovel feel very firm and sturdy when working. Like all twist shovels, there’s always the chance of it coming loose, but so far I’m impressed with how well it stays together. Even before the additional tools, this shovel is well worth the $30 it cost. The extra tools definitely step this up from a nice tool to a true piece of survival equipment. Most can be stored in place in the assembled shovel easily, though to use the bag pouch they have to be broken down more. Even then it’s easy to do and all of the pieces feel sturdy enough to last for some time. In all, I highly recommend it

So enough and worth the price
Solid shovel, built well. The whistle is useless which is why I deducted a star. It’s still worth the money, just baffles me to make a whistle that with so low a db output when everything else appears so well made.

~ ALL Metal, 12 Functions, Strong and Sturdy, Folds Very Small, Great Tool ~ Impressed! ~
This all-metal folding survival shovel set is pretty much the bee's knees. When we purchased our Jeep, our previous camping shovel got lost in the transfer somehow and did not make it in. Been needing to replace it for some time. This survival shovel is heads above what we previously had. With 12 functions, this does about any camping/4-wheeling chore you could need to take care of. I like that it is completely made of metal for strength, sturdiness, and reliability. The case is great, a place for everything and everything in its place. Our case did arrive with a tear along an inside seam (see photo). I like that the shovel blade itself has a nice cover inside the main cover for safety and keeping the shovel/blades sharp and functioning their best. The small size of the case makes it easy to fit in our vehicle. There is one con and that is there are no included instructions, although I believe I've got it all sorted out. Would definitely be a plus to have information on that included. This would make an amazing gift and comes in a nice box for gift-giving. We are more than pleased to have this in the back of our Jeep at all times. We are able to feel much safer in our adventures!

Good shovel/tool to have for over landing and camping. Solid and compact.
When I 1st got the box I thought this was gonna be a small toy like product due to being so compact. Boy was I wrong. The breakdown of this shovel is incredibly efficient. Will easily store under my seat and be useful when expanded and put together. The construction is much more solid than I anticipated. I bought this to help clear sand and dirt while camping off road and it will be perfect for that. The multi angle head will allow me to dig or pull sand away from my tires when needed. Comes with a storage bag so it can collapse and bagged compactly before going back into my truck. There are several features that I will likely not use (wrench features and saw edge) but it's great to have the additional features and not use them instead of needing them and not having them. I would recommend to any off road/camping enthusiasts.

Heavy as heck
Impressively well made and thick product, durable. Weighs every bit of something made of a dwarf star. It’s heavier than my wooden handle shovels that’s for sure although it seems far sturdier. Compared to any shovel you buy in a store this is at least 4x thicker too. This should last a lifetime

Smart design
Surprisingly well-made! Simple and versatile tool has everything promised. The straight edge knife and saw attachment is extremely useful and detaches easily for use (pruned a 3/4" branch with saw to test, though not the sharpest, worked nonetheless. Saw edge on shovel better). Knife VERY sharp with a good edge. threading of extension pieces heavy gauge (benefits from light lubrication for easier assembly/disassembly). Carrying case excellent size and intelligently designed (compact and durable). I carry in my car for quick access. On the heavier side (which is good when needing to chop kindling-sized branches/small logs for firewood. Phillips and straight head attachment secure and handy. Locking mechanism for adjusting shovel angle very strong and versatile for use as shovel, hoe, and hook. Looking forward to using Firestarter on dry kindling to test. Overall a great product for camping, survival, etc. and appears to be made to last indefinitely...
