This radio arrived in a used/opened condition. And I have to pay for the return postage.

The Geepas GR6842 radio is a 'kitchen' radio volume wise. Reasonably light weight despite the internal rechargeable battery.It hums quietly when re-charging, or when running on the internal transformer via 240v mains power. Or you can power by 3x D cells of any type. Installing batteries gives better stability too.Functionally, you get Fm, Am (medium wave) and 8 band SW. Tuning is entirely manual. No LCD display. A simply LED to indicate charging and a voice output to indicate MP3/blutooth speaker selection.There is no headphone socket.For me the most useful element is the playback of MP3 and MP2 audio by insertion of either an USB flashdrive (keydrive), a TF (micro SD card), or the older style larger flat rectangular SD (MMC) card which might be found in an older radio capable of making recordings from DAB for example. Or even from one of the specialist products manufactured for the British Wireless for the Blind fund.These were specialist items made by one of the oldest British radio companies still in business, though made robustly and consequently pricey for those with only partial sight.There is nothing high tech about this. If playing from an external drive (as above), you move the top slider on the radio to the BT/MP3 position and after a short jingle, a voice announces "Play by" USB drive, or SD card, or TF card. You make your choice by pressing the clicky round mode button to right of the large volume control. You can pause, move to the next or previous track/recording. But not fast forward/scan through one. It is a simple interface but no different than for the British Wireless for the blind SD1 player. Though with the added advantage of a secure power supply.One key advantage over the pricier radios which might permit USB playback, is that the Geepass 6842 remembers where you were in your recording, if you switched it off and came back to it later.The telescopic aerial is strong and moves through 360 degrees.The only issue I've had from my £26 product, has been with MW. Where I live, the stronger stations are accompanied by some crackle. However this may be a local issue.Finally, the instructions say there is a lead acid battery installed and I am not convinced of this, because it lacks the weight. I charge it weekly and am happy with my purchase.

I like the features for the price. Bluetooth and memory card options. Plus the internal rechargable battery in addition to AC and regular batteries. The operation is simple and it is presented in a retro style. For the price this is an excellent radio, however the trade off is that the construction of the shell / casing lacks finess and some of the casing seams dont match up and the controls feel a little slack but you get a lot of features for the price. Its great for a casual radio and at £30.00 is good value. But dont expect refinement or finesse. Still I like it..

I love this radio. As a retired Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love to scan the Short Wave channels. When I spotted this as being a multi band LW/MW/SW receiver it was perfect.If your looking for a digital (DAB) then this isn't for you.Having its own rechargeable batteries could be a plus for those who might want portability.The sound quality on the broadcast stations is better than you might expect, with almost perfect signal stability.Overall, great value for money.
