Seems to work great.
I got this used for a great price here on Amazon. It's an incredibly solid unit and one of those things that you don't want to notice, so it does its job best by being quiet in the background. I got it for my recording rig after the venue I regularly play suffered some power outages and spikes during a gig. After reading up on these things, I decided to take it a step further than the standard Furman power conditioner and get a double conversion UPS. It's worked out very well and protected my recordings perfectly, especially when people have inadvertently unplugged my rig. There is no lag or dropout when it loses wall power because it's always converting the power to DC and back to AC. The only drawback I would say is the weight, but it's pretty light as far as these things go. A few years back I bought a much larger unit that has a higher capacity, but the draw back is that it's so big and such a pain to lug around that it ended up staying at home for most gigs. This is the perfect compromise as it handles all of the units I need to keep going during an electrical event but doesn't weigh a ton. So, certain parts of my rig end up unprotected, but it really doesn't matter if my monitor speakers go down during a recording. So, two thumbs way up. Tripp Lite also sent me two new rack ears free of charge when I gave them the serial number. Great customer service, especially for a used device!

Battery backup + starlink = staying online
Shortly after I installed this UPS, the power company saw fit to test it. It worked like a champ. It is powering a small network rack that includes a Ubiquiti switch, a Ubiquiti gateway (being replaced by a PF sense gateway). It's also powering the cable modem and a starlink rig. I'm going to move the cable modem over to the surge suppressor because the power hit took out whatever is upstream of it. Starlink kept chugging along just fine - it stays on the battery backup side. It's very sweet to keep working while waiting for the power to come back. In my case, power came back after a few minutes, dropped again, returned, then went away for about 10 hours. It was nice to do a graceful shutdown after 15 minutes without power when the long outage hit.

Rude Awakening @ 4:00 am! Useless if Battery dies!
Got awakened at 4 am this morning to a 120 decibel SCREAMING Alarm. Insane. Woke up the entire house. To make matters worse, the only way to stop it is to pull the battery AND unplug it and then let it sit dead for 4 days while you wait for a new battery to arrive! Yep batteries have to ship by ground. So imagine waking up cold and tired only to have to go dig up another power strip from the garage AND a screwdriver, AND pull your audio rack away from the wall so you can unscrew the front of the UPS so you can remove the battery and unplug the UPS AND plug in some type of temporary power strip. So forget about it being hot swappable. There’s no way to keep a spare battery in stock for years. These last anywhere from 3 years to 10 years. Batteries will go bad if you leave them discharged for too long. You also can’t use it when you remove the battery and unplug it. So not really very hot swappable. I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t simply act as a power strip while you wait for a new battery! But no. It’s a brick. Terrible design! I will never do that to my family again. Or myself. What a nightmare. I threw it in the garbage can. I may have kept it if you could actually turn off the alarm with the alarm off button and have still be useable until a new battery could be procured. Save yourself a sleepless night. Look for another brand. Terrible design. 😖

Excellent for Small Business Server Room
At $150 or thereabouts, this UPS is perfect for a small business server room. I purchased this device to act as a surge protector and UPS for a Dell PowerEdge R210 rack-mount server, PowerConnect 2016 powered gigabit switch, Cisco RV220W gateway router, and an external RAID enclosure data backup device. The SMART500RT1U appliance comes with a small instruction manual that explains how to install and mount the hardware. It is very straightforward and it is worthy to note that the manner in which this device mounts to the rack is such that you do not need a tray to ensure it is secured (the mount point is at the device's center of gravity). Plug in the power cord, attach your devices, and power it up. It is really just that simple to get it functioning as a UPS with voltage regulation and noise protection. If you are like me and have had an electronic device fried by power fluctuations (I live in Florida and lightning storms are a daily occurrence), the $150 is a small price to pay to insure valuable equipment and data. In addition to the standard protection, this particular model also includes software and a USB connection which allows it to send a signal to your server telling it to shut down in regular order when the power goes out. This is important because these types of battery backups only last a couple of hours under medium to high load capacities before they too run out of juice and you have a sudden shut down which can cause damage and data loss. The last point I would make is before you order, make sure that you add up all the wattage and VAC requirements for everything you will attach to this device. This particular model supports 300 watts and 500 VAC. At max load, the devices I've attached to it fall just short so my setup should be fine. However, if you have a more robust server you should be looking at the higher capacity models in the 800 watts / 1000 VAC or above range. As a side note, Tripp Lite makes similar models that are non-rack mount for different setups, and this particular model converts to tower mount when you attach the arms in a different way. Good job, I'm very happy with this guy.

Excellent Beginner UPS
I am no professional so this UPS has been excellent for me. Super simple to mount, and ready to go out of the box. It's definitely more than enough for my limited needs. (I am using it to power a UDM-Pro, PoE switch, and a couple other small things like modem and raspberry pi) Definitely very pleased with my purchase, and I can definitely recommend it for those who need something straightforward and easy to use.

Works well and easy to setup. Would be nice is the rear rail mounts were included however like their equipment over others. What others say is in line with this product. Will probably be using more of these in the future.
