MTM 50 Round Flip-Top Rifle Ammo Box 220 Swift 243 308 Win

I first want to comment on using some common sense before making a review on this item. Amazon's description does say .243 to .308, and this can be misleading. If you aren't sure if this will work for your cartridge, check the manufacturer's website. The description is referring to the .308 Win cartridge and those that have a girth and length that is similar (.308 Win is the parent case of the .243 Win, 7mm-08 Rem., etc.). It will NOT fit the 270 Win, whose parent case is the 30-06 and will be too long for the lid to close. For this, you will need the Large Rifle box. A one star review for not fitting a 270 Win is ridiculous, and obviously user error. This is an excellent ammo box, and really is an essential piece of equipment for the handloader. Ignore those 1 and 2 star reviews for fit. It's an excellent made in the USA product and works great for what it was intended.

I bought it to be used as a storage for my AAA batteries. But it is not very practical for that. The AAA batteries fit very well but they go all the way down the spaces. So, if I need one battery I have to turn it upside and all of them come out. I think it might be useful for my pastel sticks, though. AA batteries definitively won't fit.

I've bought a lot of MTM ammo cases for my reloaded ammo, and they absolutely do not disappoint. They're well designed and dependable. The plastic seems to age well without becoming brittle, and these cases seem to survive even the coldest trips to the range without cracking. The active hinges are FAR better than the flexible thin plastic "hinges" on the competitors' ammo boxes that are probably good for 20-50 cycles before they crack, depending on the temperature.I once blasted one of these MTM ammo boxes off a bench with the muzzle blast of a 50 BMG. The rounds were scattered but the MTM ammo box survived. That pressure wave has been known to smash windshields. A lesser plastic ammo box was shattered in the same incident. Derp.Be sure to get the correct ammo box for the caliber you want to use. MTM has a nice chart to explain which boxes can be used with which calibers. It's more complicated than it would seem as some rounds can be stored tip up and others tip down.I print foldable reloading forms that press fit into the translucent tops. The outside identifies the contents, but the back of the folded sheet on the inside has five panels of reloading data for up to ten loads each, with a space to record chrono data and group size at the range so I can plug the data into my reloading spreadsheet when I return home. Of course, that organization doesn't help when the first thing I do at the range is drop the open ammo box and spill the randomized contents onto the ground. Derp again.

These are a great value, in my cynical mind. Would buy again. The semi-clear blue top allows a view of cartridge tips.Measurements of .308 Caliber and other short action cartridge container: Height - 3 5/16 (83mm), length - 6 3/16 (158mm), width - 3 7/8 (99mm). These are surgical meat axe measurements using a Harbor Fright cheap caliper. The width measurement includes protrusion of hinges and latch. The hinges will last as long as the box remains unexposed to extended UV light (read: many month of summer sunshine) or else, a lifetime. I rarely award 5 stars.

Excelent ammo box. Very rugged/durable. I eventually ordered a bunch of foam and cut it to fit in the lids of all my ammo boxes to keep rounds from moving around. MTM's just feel the most durable, most secured boxes.

This great product allows me to simultaneously (a) compactly store ammo that comes in oversized boxes and (b) neatly store ammo that ships in bulk packaging. Each box comes with multiple color-coded labels, so different types of ammo can be stored in the same box and yet still be clearly identified. The boxes store neatly in larger ammo cases (depending on size, of course), on a shelf, or in a BOB.If these boxes are intended for bug-out bags, it would be prudent to wrap each box with a length of duct tape. After all. the latch IS made of plastic, and should only be relied on to do so much (besides, having extra duct tape in a BOB is never a bad thing).I intend to buy more of these cases, and I recommend them to you.

These ammo boxes are sturdy, stackable and exactly what I needed to keep my ammo better organized. They even come with stickers that you can use to label the boxes. I'm using mine to keep my .308 separate from my .243 and will use different colors for each. The sizing of the partitions is just right - no so tight that you need to force each cartridge in, but not so loose that the rounds flop all over the place.I will buy more. It's interesting that some of the colors cost almost twice as much as another. I'm indifferent to the color choices or opacity of the lid - you're not likely to tell the caliber by looking through the translucent lid. I will keep my .308s in the green cases and the .243s in the blue. I'd give these boxes 6 stars if I could!

Amazing. Much better than the stuff at local stores, cheaper, and more durable. Bought another one immediately after opening up the amazon package. Went to the store and couldn’t find anything as cheap, as good, as durable, or as convenient.USA made is another bonus, seems like most of the other stuff is made by people who are probably not compensated and forced to work against their will.I should probably order more but given that I’m using this for a hunting rifle I just don’t need more than 100 rounds at a time.

Used straight away for use on the range and worked a treat.

I had the older boxes year's ago for pistols and found them to be invaluable for storing your ammuninition.These newer ones are brilliant I like the different colours, I went for the black/smokemodel.Overall another excellent product from mtm.
