Kept me warm in the arctic
I bought this for a trip to the arctic of Finland. The small should be called medium but that's how all of Columbia's jackets are it seems. I already knew this when ordering but didn't mind as I was going to be wearing at least a couple layers of clothing underneath it. This jacket is not very thick but is surprisingly warm. I wore it for a straight week where the temperatures ranged from 7 below zero all the way down to 40 below, some of those days I only had a wool base layer, a fleece midlayer and this jacket as my outer layer. Even in those temperatures my torso stayed warm. It also has lots of pockets which I love and took advantage of, pockets with zippers and velcro to keep you from losing anything. This was great purchase. If my review was helpful to you I'd appreciate it if you clicked yes where it asks below, thank you.

Perfect
It's actually waterproof. Perfect fit. Long enough and arms are long enough. Comfortable. Lots of pockets. Lightweight but incredibly warm. He was very satisfied and won't take it off. Perfect gift!

Great value
This thing is perfect. As soon as you take it out of the packaging you think..."Oh, well this seems really thin, and like it couldn't be warm." Wait until you put it on and wear it outside! I live in Iowa, and it's been like -13 - -37 these last few days. This thing kept me warm through all of it. Not to mention, it fits perfectly, if not just a little bit larger than what you'd expect. It's comfortable, and has lots of inside pockets :)

It's awesome. Best Jacket ever.
Very good for cold weather. It works well for temps down to 20 degrees F. It hasn't been colder than that yet where I live, but the jacket keeps me warm. I only have a button down shirt on underneath, and Jeans, and boy does this do the job. It stops wind from entering and that is a huge plus. The Jacket is pretty thin overall, but does the job better than my old heavier jacket .The Velcro straps on the ends of the sleeve are great. The hood is removable, it zips on and off, when off, you can not even tell where it was zipped on. The hood itself works great, and has pull strings that can fit as tight as you would like around your face. There is an adjustment on the top of the hood as well depending on your head size/shape or comfort level. The pockets are great, lined with what seems like fleece, to keep hands nice and warm. All 4 external pockets zip closed, which is awesome, to keep valuable safe. The jacket zips all the way up, and covers the neck well, and you can even cover your nose if you stick your face down a little. The hand pockets are HUGE. The external pockets on top are great as well. I don't use them much, since I haven't had a need to. They can fit a 5.7 inch phone, wallet, and keys, with a little room to spare. I wouldn't stuff all of those in there, but you can if you wanted. There is an internal pocket made for googles if you are skiing, there is also a Velcro pocket inside for your phone with a headphone port above it. There are only two pockets inside. Overall, great jacket and it's light weight. After using it, I also got one for my Father and Mother, they love there's as well.

Great jacket, but runs /very/ large.
Great jacket; bought it as a winter shell for North Georgia. Pockets are very large and plentiful, the hood is very well-designed, and the jacket is made of good material that has (so far) repelled rain and heavy snow very well. I like the cinch-strap design around the waist; the pulls hook onto themselves so there's no loose elastic flapping about. The "goggles" pocket (this is a ski jacket) is great for my sunglasses. One criticism is of the way the pockets carry weight... not that I'd be lugging around stones, but the weight of things in the pockets doesn't carry well across the shoulders and the pockets tend to flap or bounce around a bit even with just a large cell-phone.Most important note, this this is HUGE. I wear an XLT in most shirts & jackets, but I was swimming in this thing. I thought to leave plenty of room for layering, but I would suggest ordering a size down if you have any doubt.

Not as heavy as I thought.
Even though this jacket is lighter than what I thought it would be, it is still a good jacket for cool days, or as a shell for really cold weather. Holds upwell in damp conditions, rain or snow. Looks great and fits perfect, just wish it had a little more insulation.

great for skiing in Colorado or hiking in Michigan
I bought this for a ski trip to Colorado, intending to layer over a lighter squishy Columbia jacket. This jacket is plenty warm enough on it's own and was great for skiing because of the number of pockets--even a ski goggle pocket! Back home in Michigan I've worn it to walk in temperatures with a wind chill in the low single digits. I have never worn this jacket layered with the other one. Luckily both were good deals! I choose this jacket if it's windy out because it's more wind resistant. It's also lightweight and easy to move in. I wear the other jacket if it's cold and I'm running around, because it's easier to stow in a bag once indoors. As a tall woman with long arms I buy men's jackets so the sleeves reach my hands and the shoulders are roomier. My son has one in a different color and he wears it all the time. He's 6'5" and happy with the fit.

Feels light but warm enough for Chicago winters
I love this coat. It's a bit big for me, but I'm a larger guy so it actually fits everywhere instead of bunching up at the hips/waist, which is a first for me. The sleeves are long enough, the zippers all run smoothly, and I love the color. The coat feels lightweight, but it's actually warm enough for Chicago winter, which is saying something. It's been sub-zero here lately and this coat has been fantastic for that. All I need to do is pair it with a decent hat, gloves, and scarf, and I'm on my way.
