We have magna tiles and it works great, not 100% sure for Picasso but I don't know why it wouldn't work!

Yes, they have magnets at the end that allow them to connect, but only directly flat. So technically, not exactly like a train car since it doesn't really allow for bending (like when going around a curved track).
