Sentinel Formula 626 is a powerful, biodegradable adhesive remover designed primarily for carpet glue. Available in a 5-gallon foam formula, it breaks down adhesive in about 90 minutes, enabling easier scraping and cleanup. While highly effective on carpet adhesives and odorless for comfortable use, it is less reliable for vinyl adhesive removal. Ideal for professionals seeking to reduce labor time and environmental impact.

Works as advertised
I applied 626 generously according to the instructions with a heavy-duty deck brush, let it sit for 90 minutes, and the adhesive came up quite easily using a 4-inch floor scraper. The pictures show a room with the adhesive still on the floor compared to one cleaned with 626. There is a little bit of adhesive left around expansion joints, but not enough to be a problem. I used about 4 gallons on 550 sq ft. I used a 24” rubber floor squeegee to scrape up the liquified adhesive and then mopped with Simple Green. It took me and my son about 5 hours, including soak time. Would’ve taken twice as long or more — and a lot of back-breaking labor — without 626. Just be sure you are using it on the correct type of adhesive (mine was brown carpet adhesive).

Don't buy this for vinyl adhesive removal, it doesn't work...
Sentinel 626 is supposably for carpet and "vinyl" adhesive removal. I followed all the instructions precisely. I watched several videos to make sure that I understood and knew what to expect and what I was trying to accomplish. I calculated the square feet per gallon and made sure that I even used extra, as suggested in several videos, I was not skimpy with it at all. Throughout the one+ hour set time that was recommended I agitated the glue and paper backing with a short bristle course brush push broom to improve overall effectiveness and I also made sure that any high spots were getting covered repeatedly so as to stay saturated with the product throughout that time. This product simply does not work for vinyl adhesive removal as advertised... In my professional opinion, for my situation, this was a disgusting waste of money that would have been better spent renting a machine and blade specifically used for stripping vinyl adhesive from the start. $75 machine, $75 blade, for the day. $150 all together at Home Depot, which ultimately is what I ended up needing to do anyway "just saying" 😉

Works as advertised
I couldn't find any industrial strength glue remover in any of the 'box' retail stores in my area. I was trying to remove carpet glue off a garage floor where someone installed indoor/outdoor carpeting about 40 years ago. Without this stuff, I don't think I would have ever been able to get the old glue up. Anyway, just scraping or even scraping with a large electric scraper didn't seem to help. Using this product and a pressure washer seemed to be the ticket. A little messy to clean up but I was able to get everything off the floor. Just an fyi........it took multiple treatments and about 7 days to remove all of the carpet glue off this large two car plus shop garage floor.

Meh. It's okay.
Saw a video on YT of this product that showed great results. But unfortunately, it did not work nearly as well as that on my floors. That being said, it removed some of the glue so I guess it worked a little.

Steer Clear
Applied exactly as stated on the label, sometime 2.and 3.times in spots. Tried covered and uncovered, scrubbed, scraped and cussed and the glue still wont come off the floor. This product simply does not work. I've gone through 15 gallons where I should have used 5, still glue everywhere. Photo after 3rd application, left covered for 2 hours and scraped.

Works well!
This worked well for my husband and I - we saw a video on youtube for removing the nasty glue from glue down carpet (barf) and just recently bought a house that had just that so...we decided to give this product a try. It's been glued down in there since 1979 and that glue was rock solid. I poured 626 on direct, not diluted, and let soak for about an hour. We then started scraping and, with some elbow grease, was able to get that nasty junk up! If you've got a larger space, I would suggest getting the 5gal because you really wanted to cover the glue. Anyways, it worked well and didn't have a repulsive smell. That's a win in my book!

Still requires scrubbing for our application
We pulled up carpet in our sunroom expecting to find concrete and instead found this broken tile mosaic. There’s tons of glue left on the tile and grout with an uneven surface that didn’t allow for the normal scraping to remove the glue, but it is working. Our application requires that we put the remover down, cover with plastic for an hour or two then take a scrub brush and wire brush to it, followed by a through mopping, then repeating the entire process two more times. It is a lot of work but considering that glue was used as a leveler on most of the floor, we think it is working well.
