This FAQ the seller states that it is 15.6 inches long (1.3ft). IT IS NOT. Its only 9.25 inches long

What does this product do exactly?

It separates mic and headphone signals from your ear bud/mic combo or headset/mic combo that have one 3.5 mm jack. you just plug in mic and headhone aux

When i use this with my astro a40’s i lose left/right noise separation. i can only hear the “left speaker”, not the “right speaker”?

You have to shove the jack from your device all the way into the adapter. It needs some real pressure there. That's what solved my problem, at least.

Could you please confirm whether the jack of your headset has a ctia standard jack.
