Eggsactly what I wanted!
When I was a kid we had an aluminum single-egg poacher which I used several times a week. Flash forward 30 years and I'm looking for an egg poacher for my kids to safely use. I first got some of those silicone poachers at Christmas but I had the same problems as everyone else - poor heat transference resulting in unsatisfactory eggs - and my kids almost got steam burns using them. I went searching on Amazon, saw that this poacher was liked the most and I bought it. Wow, this is one of the highest quality items I've ever received that was made in China. The pan and lid are heavy and stay where you put them and the poaching insert has a good Teflon coating. The handle is firmly riveted to the side of the pan and it's long enough that you don't burn your hand over the stove while using it. The handle on the poaching insert is small but since it's aluminum it says pretty cool to the touch - with my Kevlar hands I don't need a pot holder - but the handle on the lid can get pretty hot so use a pot holder for that one. The poacher insert has vents around the edge so it doesn't rattle while the steam escapes and the lid is heavy enough to keep the poacher down in case someone fills the pan too full and floats the insert. My kids are loving using it almost daily, so much so that I just leave it on the stove all the time. If you're only making two eggs, this is so much easier to use than buying and storing a 4-egg insert. It works best if you keep the heat on high until the water is boiling and then turn it down to 4 before you put the egg in. On my stove, 3.5 min makes a loose egg; 4 min makes a cooked but runny egg; and 4.5 min makes a soft but non-runny egg. We are so glad

Very Well Made Poacher
If you enjoy eggs poached in a pan over dropping them into water, this is your pan. It is a very solid, well made pan. The egg cups have some form of non-stick surface, bit I don't rely on it. Give each cup a real quick spray of Pam or similar non-stick spray before adding the the eggs. They come out super easy then. It washes up really well in the dishwasher also.

Works well but some comments....
The egg "cup" is not stick proof; maybe needs a break in period? I have coated with just a dab of butter. Considering the price ($23), I was expecting an item more precisely made. Both the cup and lid have a little slop in them and feel cheap. The pot itself is well made, sits perfectly flat on my smooth top burners, and gets to a boil very quickly. I started to give this 3 stars but just changed to 4 because this does great poached eggs. Update: after using for weeks, I'd give another half star if I could. I love this thing.

NOT An Egg Poacher
This pan appears to be of good quality and it certainly does the job, BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE POACHED EGGS. Poached eggs, by definition, is a method of cooking where the eggs are completely submerged in water. What this pans makes are steamed eggs; the eggs never touch the water but are cooked by the heat of the steam produced in the pan. While this creates a consistent product and a nicely cooked egg, it is not poached. Nor does it taste like a poached egg. Submerging an egg in simmering water imparts a specific, tell-tale flavor to an egg, which is what makes poached eggs unique (and delicious). This pan creates a nicely cooked but very bland tasting egg, which is very lacking in flavor. It is about the most boring egg you will ever eat. I will keep the pan and use it on occasion, but when I want the delicious flavor of poached eggs I will continue using the traditional method of submerging eggs in simmering water.

Well made; works great
Note: I got the one egg pot, hence it has a solid cover with no steam vent. Of course for the price it should be made well. Haven't used yet just arrived but the poaching 'well' for an egg seems a little shallow and wondering if it really can hold XL egg. Will give update when used if not. It is a good looking piece of stainless steel, nice weight. Update: Used a large egg and did accommodate, don't know about XL egg. It did a nice job poaching but can only view it as a luxury one egg poacher. Update 2026: Works great now that I have used a number of times. Used Jumbo egg and no problems. The trick is to let water boil FIRST, coat the insert with butter completely THEN place on the pot, cover. 1-2-3 it's done.

Design flaw prevents perfect poaching
Bought with great expectations and was disappointed. I poach eggs all the time with many techniques. I have a number of egg poaching pans and inserts. I sometimes cook them in water without a pan so Iโm pretty good at cooking poached eggs. I was looking for convenience. I bought this due to single egg feature and induction range compatibility. The pot itself is nice quality construction. Riveted handle, nice solid construction, good balance so it sits flat on the stove top instead of heavy handle making it tip. It is induction compatible. The problem is the lid design blocks the steam holes. When you cook the egg it takes a long time to cook the white & by the time the white is cooked the yolk is hard which is not a good poach. Look at my photos and youโll see the lid has a flange to sit inside the pan rim. By sitting inside the rim the flat flange covers the steam holes. A glass lid would be preferable too. A glass lid allows you to watch the cooking progress without lifting the lid to peek. By lifting the lid you release any accumulated heat or steam slowing down the cooking and taking away the steam function. I am returning the pan for these reasons. It cost almost $30 including tax and for that tiny pan and price I expect better function.

Small manufacturing problem.
Disappointed in the product. Have used the exact same item for several years. Non stick surface was wearing out. I ordered and received the exact same product. The non stick cup tends to tip and partially fall onto the pot. I previously made this review and received no response. Seems to be a manufacturing problem.

Great little poacher
I love this single egg poacher. My mom and dad had one, but it was ancient and the egg kept sticking to the poacher cup. I thought this was a little bit too much money to pay for a single poacher, but I am glad I purchased it as it seems to be well worth the money. The panhandle stays cool, but the handle on the egg cup does get very hot. I just use a pot holder to remove it after I take the sauce pan off the stove. Iโll ask Alexa to time four minutes and I have a perfect poached egg. I have been using it for about a week now and I have absolutely no complaints. The egg cup washes up beautifully and to me. It is a very sturdy item. I wholeheartedly recommend this poacher.

Single egg poacher
The only thing I found it that the handle rivets leak but not a big problem. Cooks great eggs.

Excellent item, very good quality
I had a very old egg poaching saucepan, similar to this one, but the handle had broken off so decided to replace it with this set. Can highly recommend, it is very solid and always comes up beautifully after washing it in the dishwasher. I just had to get used to using this set as opposed to my old one (different poaching times and differences to how much water to put in the saucepan). Eggs are poached perfectly, very happy.

Good poacher
Cooks eggs fast and well. I had to make a handle (dowel) for the inner part as it gets to hot to handle but otherwise a good poacher.

Good egg poacher.
Great single egg poacher. Very good quality stainless steel, and the non stick part for the egg is great. I have one gripe, and that's that the egg poaching part and lid can't be placed just anywhere on the pot, they need to line up so they fit just right and don't move. My olde poacher didn't have this issue, you could place it anywhere and it was stable. Otherwise I'd give it a 5.
