Pleased with these
Reviewing what's essentially a produce product is kind of silly because every lot is going to be different, but, I was happy with my purchase so I feel like giving it a boost. Split peas are great. They're always a treat. But if they've been lying around for a while they can take forever to cook, and sometimes even forever isn't long enough. These were nice and fresh. They cooked up in the usual time and they were delicious. So, at lease for this lot shipped at this time, a thumbs up is in order.

Really good... but do NOT add salt during cooking or they will stay hard
I bought a bag of these for myself and a gift-bag of the same product for a family member. My family member soaked some of the peas overnight, then tried cooking them, following a recipe which called for adding salt and seasonings. They stayed hard even after being cooked all day. After more than ten hours of cooking the peas were still hard and crunchy. She had to throw the soup out. After her bad experience, I did some online research and learned that it's not good to add salt to green split peas till they're fully cooked, and that soaking is unnecessary. So I did NOT soak mine and did NOT add any salt. I cooked them (salt free) for about two hours. They got very soft and made a great soup. Then AFTER they were soft, I added the salt and garlic and onions and other seasonings. The moral of this story is: When making green split pea soup, add whatever seasonings and other ingredients you want, but do so ONLY after the peas have turned into soup. P.S. Make sure you boil them. If they heat is too low they also won't soften.

Must be Good!
I got these for my bunny honestly, she's a picky one! She loves these things, it's like bunny crack! Personally, I dislike peas, but she will fight for them and you hear her crunchy loud on them, they must be amazing! They have a pretty color to them, perfect hunter green and there is no bad flakes so far at all. These are a great snack and you now have a customer for life!
