This roof rack is a great product! It has served its purpose well for ...
This roof rack is a great product! It has served its purpose well for the last 18 months with little wear or sign of usage. This rack is a very durable rack that meets the expectations given off by the product description. At a price of $149.97, it is one of the cheaper products within the cargo roof rack genre. Positives I bought this roof rack in May of 2016. I had the intent of putting it on top of my SUV to hold the spare tire as well as cargo when I go on road trips. Not only has this rack been useful, it makes the vehicle look better, too. I have not removed the rack from the top of my vehicle since I purchased and installed it. So far, it has not given me any problems. It is durable and holds the weight that it is rated for. The extension option is very convenient to hold more cargo while remaining secure and not bending in the center. It attaches very easily to a Chevy Trailblazer and does not move around, even at interstate speeds. The description claims that it has a weight capacity of 250 pounds. I personally have found that it holds up to this claim. Negatives One item of the product features list is the black powder coated finish. This finish is not the productโs top quality. Even after three months, the weld connections of the rack started to show surface rust. The structural integrity of the metal was not compromised. However, it does look tacky with the rust when it is inspected up close. This is just at the weld connections and not on the main beams of the rack. From a distance this is not an issue, as you cannot see the surface rust very well. Overall This roof rack has been a great purchase. It has done what it was meant to do and has improved the look of my vehicle. For the price it is a great buy. Some roof racks can go for over $700 and do the same job as this product. This roof rack is highly recommended and will not let you down when you need to haul cargo around.

Great on my 2023 Tacoma Dual Cab
Assembly is very easy, but you need to plan first. Make sure you have some snips on side cutter on hand. There are a lot of zip ties. Next, use red thread locker with every screw. They are tight, but don't take the chance. Do not use the supplied allen wrench. Use a hex fitting on an impact wrench. Be careful not to over tighten and strip the bolt. You only need to go until you here the first click. Assembling the rack is simple and the directions aren't bad. Make sure you follow the assembly order or things won't fit. If I were mounting this permanently on my truck I would put shrink tubing over all the joints and get some really good, thick rust prevention coating. The welds are really poor quality, but for the price, it's what was expected. I mounted this on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 with dual cab. My rails are OEM. The tube spacing isn't perfect to mate up with my truck roof rails, but it's good enough. The rack does mount securely. When I grab it to shake it, the entire truck moves. This rack does come with a lot of road noise. On the interstate, it sounds like a jet engine. This will be good enough for my move out-of-state, but it will not be permanently mounted. The road noise and wind noise become extreme above 40mph.

Easy to assemble - sturdy
I liked the packaging. The simplicity of putting it together. The 64" one looked big at first but once assembled and mounted it looks great. Doesnt seem cheap and all the parts fit and we're accounted for. I also had to flip the bottom piece upside down that mounts the rack to the cross members. That took longer trying to get it to fit right and not move than the other portions of the assembly. The only issue I have is when you use the smaller screws to keep all 3 parts for the basket together and the plates on the outside that the screw heads are almost the size of the hole for the plate. I solved this by applying washers on there with it so they don't dig through the edges of the whole and ruin it. Besides that I was happy with how quick it came and the quality of the product. I love the open spots on the plates to be able to slap some stickers on it!

Very sturdy yet pleasantly light to handle
Very sturdy yet pleasantly light to handle. Very reasonably priced. It was less than 1/3 the cost of the smaller version dealer/name brand racks. The rack is rated for 250 pounds of cargo but be sure to verify your car's weight limits (inside driver's door). This may be too much rack when loaded. We chose the 3 piece basket, a like sized waterproof bag and bungy net for complete versatility of sizes/weather conditions for all possible future needs. We chose a basket primarily for out of town shopping because an enclosed carrier is much smaller in volume and unforgiving of square/rigid items. This is a BIG basket with all 3 pieces, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is approximately as large as the top of your car. I recommend having two people install it on your car. (Take a step stool with you.) I wish the brackets attached to the basket and then attached to car's crossbars so they would be in the right place the next time you put the basket on the car. Instead, you have to remove the brackets, keeping all the pieces in the right order, not losing any washers, and replacing onto the basket or storing without losing. The instructions are horrible, worthless actually. It was easy to figure out how to put it together but there were pieces in the sack that were absent from the instructions and we found no use for them. We plan to add lock washers to all bolts, especially the brackets, so nothing can loosen or get lost with road vibration. We just took our first trip (empty) with no problems except this rack does add a lot of road noise! We had to close the inner headliner to the sunroof to make the trip tolerable. We wonder if removing the front "spoiler" would make it travel better when empty but would be a lot of trouble unless the supplied nuts are replaced with easier to use wingnuts.

Well worth it !! No regrets
I have wanted a roof rack for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee for years, but I never wanted to spend lots of $$ on one. I saw this rack listed for $135 with free shipping and it seemed too good to be true. I read all the reviews and decided to take a chance because many people were happy with it. Well, let me say, I am really blown away by this product. Is it super heavy duty? No. For $135 I did not expect it to be. But for my purposes it is plenty rugged enough. It was very easy to put together, everything lined up and they even give you extra hardware. I had this fully installed in less than an hour. Those who are complaining about instructions must be extremely weak in mechanical ability, because this is a no-brainer to put together, seriously. Does it look good? Absolutely! Perfect size for my Cherokee and looks bad ass ! Fit and finish was very nice. No scratches or dents. Arrived in about three days, two days ahead of schedule. I am very happy.

Great value large roof basket, but be aware of its limitations/issues
This is a great large roof basket for someone who expects occasional use and doesn't mind a bit of wrangling during assembly. For the price, it's a great value, which is why I rate it 5 stars. Not recommended for someone who's looking for exacting fit/finish, or someone who's planning on leaving this on their crossbars full time due to rust potential. The good: * heavy duty construction, much better quality than other baskets I've seen in the price range * large size is perfect for my 2016 Kia Soul - when centered on the crossbars, the fairing is almost parallel with the windshield, and the rear is about 1-2" from the antenna. It basically takes up the entire roof, but that's exactly what I wanted. * great price The not so good: * assembly takes some work - it was better than I expected, actually, but the middle section was badly out of alignment with the rest of the basket and took some creative assembly to get it all to fit together. I also needed to use my dremel to extend one of the holes to fit one of the bolts. If you're not very handy and/or don't have access to anyone that can help, perhaps give this a miss. * rust - the quality of steel doesn't look so good, and I fully expect that any moisture on the interior will rust quickly. I used silicone caulking during assembly, and am hoping that it will last many seasons with some precautions. I would not expect this to last more than a year or two if left on full time, but for my use (about 4 weeks per year), I expect it to last about as long as my car. * poor directions, hardware doesn't exactly match up. The hardware bag is either missing 3 long screws, or has 3 too many plastic spacer tubes. Like the other reviews, you get enough to put it together, but hard to understand why they can't put in the appropriate number of fasteners. All in all, there are some serious issues, but you get way more than you pay for. Jut just be aware of the issues before making a purchase. One last note - it took me a while to figure out what the small plastic cylinder shaped pieces were (there were a total of six). They're not listed at all in the instructions/parts list. I realized that they were spacers to be inserted between the fairing and the fairing mount if you want space between the fairing and the frame of the basket. For example, if you install the fairing w/o the spacers and want to lash straps to the front of the basket, there's basically little to no room to attach anything. With the spacers, you get a little less than an inch gap, plenty for most straps or hooks. I only installed the ones on the top, as there were only three long bolts.

Great Affordable Alternative!
A very nice alternative to the more expensive well-known roof racks. We purchased this Bison Extended Rack to help carry some of the boxes full of wedding supplies/decorations for our upcoming wedding in another state. Our vehicle is a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS with OEM crossbars (Aero "teardrop" style). The product arrived with a few minor blemishes, and only one small area where the coating had been scraped off, but nothing that is a deal-breaker. All hardware needed was included, and even had a few extra nuts and plastic front faring spacers left over. After reading other reviews, I must admit I was a bit hesitant due to recurring issues being mentioned regarding missing hardware, and proper alignment upon assembly. I am happy to report that while yes, there was a bit of work involved to align the parts to get them to assemble, they did come together nicely in the end. Fortunately, I'm a big guy, and it was nothing just a wee bit of brute force couldn't fix. Otherwise, it might be helpful to have a helper to assemble this rack. A bit of advice regarding assembly: After you have put all the components together, and are ready to fit the side farings over the joints, thread the BOTTOM screw first, and then pivot the faring up until it clicks over the top rail, and then thread the top screw. Once both are in, you may proceed to tighten both screws. Trust me, if your rack is like mine, this will save you some moments of profane utterances whilst looking for your Dremel thinking you may have to modify assembly due to non-perfect welding. Like others have mentioned, I thought it a good idea to use black silicone to seal the joints and screw threads as a preemptive measure against any potential rusting. We live in Utah, and there is plenty of moisture to consider. The mounts fit in a satisfactory manner to my crossbars and I haven't noted too much lateral slipping. However, I intend to purchase some rubber sheeting to fit around the crossbars underneath the rack clamps to provide more friction surface area. The mounts that come in contact with the crossbars are plastic, but it's not soft enough to get a truly good grip. Wind noise on the bare rack at freeway speed is acceptable; I'm just happy there isn't any whistling our howling. Overall, I am quite pleased with this product, and for the price...the value can't be beat!

Good, spray it with protective coat.
Easy set up, worked good as expected. Like others said, should spray with protective coat.
