Outstanding value for money - comfortable, doesn't look or feel cheap, great customer support
I bought 2 of these Boss Office chairs -- the blue one with loop arms. Having used several much pricier ergonomic office chairs, some nice (a few fancy Canadian-made ones with various adjustments) and some not so nice (a pair of no-name-brand gaming chairs), I can confidently say the value for money you get here is simply outstanding. Assembly was easy and intuitive, with a couple gotchas that I quickly got over: 1. Be aware of the instruction sheet: it can confuse you at first. It only describes assembly WITHOUT the included footrest. In fact, while it's made for multiple configurations of the chair, nowhere does it mention or even depict the footrest. Not to worry: a quick look back at the product pictures, and I was back in business! I realized there's an additional metal sleeve specifically for the footrest. You install the metal sleeve on the base first, and the footrest on top of it, and ONLY THEN do you place the gas lift. Again, take a look at the product picture - that's exactly how it's supposed to go. 2. In both chairs, the arm screws were missing, so I couldn't use the arms. One mechanism screw was stripped (not the thread - the screw itself). Fortunately, Boss has great customer service. The instruction sheets direct you to a toll-free hotline. I called and followed the agent's instructions to order replacement parts. They send the parts by non-tracked snail mail -- they arrived today, and I'm glad they did. Even so, having used the chairs for 2 weeks without loop arms, I'm very happy with them -- to where I almost feel I don't need to use the loop arms. Nothing looks or feels cheap, the build quality is excellent (it feels like it cost at least $70 more), and most of all, it's stable and comfy. Sure, it doesn't fully tilt back (only the back cushion tilts), but even with that, it's very comfortable. Well worth the purchase.

Great stools and amazingly easy to assemble!
I accidentally ordered two of these stools, but now I'm glad i did! The other posters are right that the lowest height of the seat (with casters) is 25", and the armrests come up to 34" at the lowest height. This works great for my breakfast nook desk, with its work surface at just under 3 feet. It was so easy to assemble I did it in between screen refreshes during a period when our network was really slow. All I used was the larger phillips screwdriver part of what i call my kitchen hammer. The instructions say it's ok to use a mallet to pound in some of the stem components, but that wasn't necessary at all. The one-page instructions were clear even to the likes of me, and i'm not all that technically oriented or handy. All aspects of the stool are sturdy and comfortable. It spins and rolls effortlessly but not when you don't want it to. The lever to raise the chair works very easily and well. I do have to put my whole body weight on the seat to get it to go back down if i've hit the lever to raise it, but i just chalk that up to the hydraulics being sturdy. Really really incredibly happy i bought this. My only regret is missing out on what looks like a slightly lower price on it today (76.95 vs. 85.95), but considering 1) it's a great stool 2) i got free, extremely quick delivery 3) i didn't have to go anywhere to get it 4) ease of assembly ... i couldn't recommend this stool more!

Decent quality for the price
We got this stool for use with a drawing/drafting table. Not that I could draw, I couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler, but for my wife who has the ability to draw and paint. Being an average size at 5'4, this chair will work for her in a variety of heights suited to the table she is using. The back rest mount and arm rests are slotted, so you can adjust it a bit but really you will just probably set it with the screws in one position and be done with it. The chair isn't intended for anyone over 250 pounds and really isn't mean for heavy duty use. The plastic armrests are ok but a little flimsy. The cushions are firm but ok for a couple hours of drawing at a time. The chair rolls easily enough on a hard floor but not very well on carpet. Assembly is easy enough although the instructions are something to be desired on the one page it comes on. My biggest issue was that the screws were already put in very tightly into the chair seat and very difficult to get back out so that it could be assembled. For 99 bucks, it is not high end quality but will be decent enough for occasional use while sitting and drawing that masterpiece you are doing. Stick figures do not count. ;-)

A great value... comfortable, practical, and stylish
Dang, that felt like it got delivered before I'd even finished submitting the order! I'm building a built-in desk/bookcase unit that uses standard 36" tall cabinets. A regular office chair falls short by a few inches for use with cabinets this tall, so I ordered this "drafting" height chair. I love the textured, multi-color blue fabric and it was very easy to install with only a screwdriver. (Only annoying thing is that the directions included were for the standard chair... it said nothing about using the tube extender or the footring (put the extender in the base first, then the footring, then the "standard" hydraulic post. Took me a couple minutes to figure it out. Also, as the arms are an option, the bolts for them aren't included in the same package as the other 4 bolts. I thought they were missing, but eventually found them all alone in the bottom of the box (upside down so it just looked like cardboard). The ergonomics gives you a little bit of free play in decided how far back to put the backrest, and a little bit of flexibility in how far out the arms are positioned. Obviously, it allows you to change the overall height, but there is no "tilt" on either the seat or the backrest. This isn't a problem or a defect, but one thing to be aware of: because of the height, unless you are freakishly tall, you will want to rest your feet on the foot ring. If you're like me, you spend a lot of time in barefeet or socks, so it's not terribly comfortable to rest the balls of your feet on the ring for long periods, so you might have to put on some slippers! The seat itself won't pamper you like an overstuffed recliner (do you want it to?) but it's a perfect blend of firm Rating is 4.5... but based on the very reasonable price and super-quick delivery, rounding up to a full 5 stars. (But fix your directions!)

Perfect Height
I was looking for a chair that was tall enough and would support my weight without slipping down every 5 minutes. Found it!! It is comfortable, well made, and study. Hoping it lasts a long time.

Great basic swiveling office stool
While this stool isn't loaded with a ton of features, it is great at the price it is being sold. I cannot speak for longevity of the stool, since I just received it yesterday and assembled it today. This stool was extremely easy to put together. I noticed many people complained that the design was unstable due to the way they use an extension tube combined with a standard office chair lift, but I feel the way they implemented this design is very stable. The foot ring has a 4.5 inch area that mends the lifting mechanism with the extension tube. Once the chair is put together from bottom to top, following the correct directions in the diagram, the entire length is secure and very stable. I admit to not properly following the diagram at first, and exclaiming how it is too unstable-only to look at the diagram again to notice I had not followed the design properly. You can use this stool with or without the arms. I prefer no arms for my situation. The foot ring is fixed in place and cannot be adjusted. I didn't expect any adjustment at the price I paid. This stool is inexpensive. The top of the seat is 26" high at the lowest adjustment and 31" at the highest adjustment. The seat back has approximately 2" of forward to back movement that is fixed with a knob tightener on the bottom side. The seat is a little bit small, has only moderate cushioning and is upholstered with durable feeling material that does a look a little bit low end. It is only 17" from front to back of the cushion. (My office chair has 21" from front to back) The stool isn't recommended for individuals over 250 lbs and I would say, from my own personal experience, it would not be comfortable to a person of larger size. (I did used to weigh 275lb and I would have hated it. I now weigh 190 lbs and it is just barely deep enough to feel comfortable to sit on.) Overall, it is inexpensive, and has features to match its price. I feel like this was a very good value. When I made this purchase I did not want to spend 250-300 for a lot of features and higher end looking materials, because those features were not important to me for how I am using it. I would say to other buyers: if you want a high end looking stool with a lot of comfort features, go look elsewhere and spend more money. If you need a basic, but sturdy and fairly comfortable stool, then this could be the stool you want to buy. NOTE: Amazon should standardize the measurements for chairs and stools so people can more easily make buying decisions. A chair/stool purchase should include all relevant measurements in the description. Buyers should not have to rely upon the reviews from others to find out the actual size of a seat. The description should include the size of the roller base, lowest seat adjustment, highest seat adjustment, size of the seat width and front-back, size of the back, adjustment of the seat back forward-aft, angles for the seat and back adjustment, etc. (The only reason I bought my stool from Amazon was price, several other websites offer these kinds of measurements to help the buyer. Measurements only need to be made once and shouldn't affect the price of the item)

BEWARE! Excellent in concept but a MAJOR failure in executionโฆ
When opening the package for assembly the first thing you need to check are the bolts in the seat. Iโve read a few reviews about the bolts being difficult to remove from the seat. I found the manufacturer applied Loctite(glue) on the screw threads. Iโve will try to upload a picture... The bolts I received had blue Loctite which is a medium strength. Loctite is an excellent idea but is designed to bond when the screw is screwed into a fastener and the manufacturer/packager is activating the Loctite by preassembling the screws into the seat. Normally to break Loctite adhesion heat needs to be applied to the fastener to loosen the Loctite for screw removal. Fortunately, they only used medium strength Loctite and didnโt screw them into the seat completely. All but one came out fairly easily using an L shape #3 Phillips driver. The last screw not so much, the Loctite was firmly set and turning the screw caused the fastener in the seat to spin and destroy the wood. I decided to repair the seat and remove the original fastener and replaced it with a 3/8-16 wood T-Nut with prongs and Gorilla glue. When Loctite is pre-applied to screws they should be placed in a bag for shipping and only installed during assembly! I rated the seat 3 Stars solely on the seat itself and not factoring in the failure of proper Loctite usage as this can be easily corrected by the manufacturer. For $100 Iโd say this chair is average, easily assembled sans the Loctite issues, and is of average comfort. This chair will only be occasionally used so it will suit my needs. Sitting in this for long periods would be uncomfortable. If the price was $50 cheaper Iโd give it 5 Stars. I plan to ask Amazon for a discount for my inconvenience and will contact the manufacturer about correcting this issue.

I'm 6' 3" and not using it at a desk
I'm using the stool in front of a classroom without a table or podium in front of me. I get up frequently to use a whiteboard, so this stool is perfect for me. It's way better than having to settle down into and rise up again from a normal chair every couple of minutes. I'm 6' 3" and from the descriptions I wasn't sure whether the seat would be high enough for my purpose. As it turns out I don't even need it as high as it can go. I like to have the ball of my foot on the floor instead of on the foot ring, so that's the setting I use. For this review I raised the seat as high as it would go and moved my rear all the way against the back rest. I have long legs and yet my heels were 7" above the floor. At the lowest setting (I don't remove the foot ring) and sitting all the way back in the chair my heels still don't quite reach the floor. The back rest mount is slotted, so you can adjust it forward and backward like a typical desk chair. The arm rests are slotted also but I'd guess they only move about 1/2" inward and outward. I have them expanded as wide as they go and at their narrowest they are still 17 3/4" apart. The chair isn't intended for anyone over 250 pounds, so I'm guessing almost anyone could comfortably fit between the arm rests. I've never written a review before and I'm only taking the time because because I was grateful to the people who wrote about this stool before me. None of the local stores had this stool and I wouldn't have known what to expect without the reviews. In my case the shipping cost was 37% of the price of the chair (I got it for the smoking deal of sixty-three right around Christmas of 2011), so obviously it wouldn't be worth returning if I didn't like it. That's why the reviews were so helpful for me. The reviewer who came closest to my use for the stool was a teacher who was using it behind a podium and it sounded like it would be fine for me, too. Some of the reviews kind of lowered my expectations of the quality, so maybe that's one reason why I'm so happy with it. The plastic armwrests do have some natural flex to them but they seem solid enough. I wouldn't want them to be so rigid that they would be susceptible to snapping off, so I'm fine with them. The cushions are firm, so maybe that's why someone said they wouldn't want to sit in it all day long. Well, I'm in and out of the chair and I don't think I would even have thought about the cushions if someone hadn't mentioned them. The foot ring is 12 1/4" above the floor with the casters on. The casters are 2 3/8" high. Fully assembled the top of the seat is from 25" to 32". The backrest height ends up from 42 3/8" to 47 1/4". Once you sit on the chair one time all the parts nest into each other pretty solidly... I don't think it would be easy to take apart for transporting it. If you need to transport it in a car then keep in mind that across the feet it's about 24" and the shortest height is 42 3/8". If you had to remove the seat, it's only held by four screws. With the seat off and the gas spring all the way down the pedestal assembly is about 23" high. It's difficult to roll the chair if you are sitting it it on residential carpet but it rolls easily on a hard floor. One of the good things about the armrests is that they make it possible to easily reach back for the chair and sit in it without needing to break eye contact with the audience. I highly recommend the stool for anyone who likes to sit while making presentations in front of an audience. I'm writing this review while sitting in a normal desk chair raised as high as it will go and the seat is only 19" above the floor. I've been in audiences where the teacher sat in a normal chair and it's always a challenge to see them if others are sitting in front of you. At its highest setting this stool will raise your head 12" higher than a regular chair and I think audiences will appreciate that.

They are okay but that's about it, they are a little narrow so your legs are up against the chairs arms.
