Renegade Game Studios Fox in the Forest Duet 2 Player Card Game

I was looking something I could play with my partner (instead of just binging Netflix all night) - this game is great! The mechanics are simple but the card playing aspect makes the game easily replayable, and the artwork is gorgeous. It's also a pretty small kit, so it's totally packable for trips. Would recommend!

I’m a big fan of this game. Got it to play with my significant other, and it fulfilled that purpose perfectly. The rules are fairly easy to pick up, and there is a good amount of strategy and luck involved in it. There are three difficulty options, so replay value is great.

Not nearly as much fun as the original. Still a nice addition, of you have the first game and like it. If you are choosing between them and only getting one, get Fox in the Forest. If you already like that one And like co-op games, get this one too. Co-op games are hard to design, and not for everyone. We like co-op games a lot, bit this one only gets played every year or so. The base game is just a lot more fun. The pieces and art and cards are high quality and go along great with the core game. The co-op play is interesting and can be fun. I'm glad we got it.

My gf and I typically play competitive games so it was nice to finally set our thirst for blood aside and work together If you played fox in the forest before then duet will be fairly easy to learn. The game is fairly straightforward but can be challenging! We played 4 times before we scored our first win (lucked out on a mistake) and it was extremely satisfying. I think replayability depends on how you like your games. I could see us popping it open Every other month. Once we accomplished our first win we were semi burnt out. Artwork is beautiful. Definitely giftable to newbies:)

This game is not difficult to learn (if you're like me, video guides and examples of gameplay are always helpful to supplement the included player manual for board games). It plays relatively quickly, and the art is pleasing to look at. I can see it being simple to a fault for anyone looking for a particularly challenging game, but for the people I intend to play this with, it's wonderfully easy to teach and learn, and it's a chill game to pass time with. I'm happy to add it to the game library.

My boyfriend and I are avid card players and especially love trick games. This game is perfect because it uses the basic rules of one of our favorite trick games, spades, but with extra bonuses! I love that it is cooperative. If you already know how to play spades it's really easy to pick up. I suggest just watching a youtube video, that's the easiest way to learn it. The entire game board and pieces are rather small, just a little bigger than the deck of cards. I love that! It's really transportable and we can bring thing on road trips. Overall this game was a great purchase. It's really nice to mix things up with a cooperative game. There's not many two-player cooperative board games and this one knocks it out of the park. Not too hard, not too easy to win!

This game is a good idea but it doesn't feel intriguing enough. I'd recommend the original instead of the duel game.

I got this as a surprise date night activity for my husband and I. He has been wanting to play more co-op style games (mostly videogames). But he loves board games and foxes, so when I saw an add for this game on Instagram I immediately bought it, no questions asked. The game takes 20-30 minutes to play. We easily beat the game the first time we played it, so we thought it was going to be too easy, but ever since then it has been a fun way for us to get defeated. It's a healthy amount of strategy and luck, as well as a great way to work together with your partner--trying to be on the same thought pattern without being able to communicate. I would definitely recommend this for any friends or couples who are into board games that don't take too long (like Catan or Sythe), and who don't want to get too competitive with each other. It's also super travel friendly!

Fun little coop game for 2 people.

I can see this becoming one of our favourite family games. The length is just right for a quick game after dinner - I'm guessing once we're good at it around 15 minutes. It's a cooperative game where a pair will get better at playing as they get more familiar with their partner's style, which can be very satisfying when you beat a difficult game together. And it's small enough to chuck in a bag to take on holiday. Perfect!

Great co-op game for 2 players. With the 3 difficulty levels, it is replayable many times. I recommend it, especially if you like card games eg. tarock.

The original Fox in the Forest was a beautifully-illustrated and deeply strategic trick taking game. The designers solved the difficult of making 2-player trick taking games, and also introduced a fun mechanic where winning by too large a margin resulted in a loss, which kept games intense and often allowed less skilled players to turn their early losses to their own advantage. Cannot recommend that game highly enough. The coop sequel game is not by the same designer, and in fact no designer is credited at all. That's telling, because it does not hit any of the same highs. You're both playing cards blindly, since talking with your partner is forbidden, which makes this game less about cooperative play, since there is no real chance to strategize. The strategic decisions you do make are pretty predictable and not terribly interesting. The special card powers are also less fun than the original. Not recommended unless you really, really want to play a coop two-player card game, of which there are not many options. I'd recommend Pandemic instead, or a non-coop game like Jaipur, Targi, or the original Fox in the Forest, all of which are great options. Arboretum is a 2-4 player game that plays well at all player counts, and is one of the best card games I've ever played.

Great game, fairly straight forward to understand the rules and easy but fun to play. Package arrived well and in tact.
