Do they fit guys with very large calves?

There is an upper buckle that can adjustable. I'm a short guy so I had that top buckle tighten almost all the way.

Are these good for defecting heat from calves?

Yes ,the boots are tall enough to cover the area where engine heat comes off the bike.
