Review: Work well, attractive, do your calculations for required torsion - I have used 3 of these hinges for a puzzle table/coffee table that I'm building and they work as advertised. The tabletop that I made is very heavy, so I used 3 of the 60lb torsion hinges. They certainly hold the lid open, but I would need another for them to operate as a soft close hinge. I'm happy with holding the lid for closing as using another hinge would make it too hard to lift the lid. Run your calculations (lid weight in pounds X distance to centerline of lid then divide that number by the torsion rating of this hinge) and double check your arithmetic. For my table my calculations are: 17 pounds x 15 inches = 255 inch pounds of torque on the hinge. I bought the 60 pound torsion hinges, so the total number of hinges needed to be fully soft closing would be: 255/60 = 4.25 hinges. Round up to 5 hinges total. I like how the lid is supported with three of them. If you have small children that could be hurt by a closing lid, then go with the 5 hinges in the above example. For my 22 year old daughter, it is perfect.
Review: Great stay put hinges. - Great hinges, if you use the correct hinges and the correct number, the top stays where you put it. I have used these hinges in 12 boxes so far and all have worked well. A thing to note, the back of the box has to be 3/4" . There really can't be anything else on the back that makes the back thicker than the 3/4" because of the way the hinges are designed. They are easy to install and work well. Kinda expensive but worth it if you need them. I could not find anything else like them out in the market.

**Q: Could you use this product as hinges for a cabinet where the door lifts up?**
A: That is exactly what I used it for, a desk top that folds up. The only caution is to make sure you attach a chain or cable stop to the surfaces top keep the top from opening past 90 degrees

**Q: Does this product essentially “slow close” when closing the lid to not allow fingers to get smasshed?**
A: It not so much that it slows it, but it is designed to require you to push to close.  That is, when you open the lid it will hold it in place at any level.  Pay careful attention to the stats on the needed size.  For small toy boxes, it works well, but if you have a larger item it will not function.

**Q: I just got these and they're stuck in the 90 degree position they came packaged in. Is there a trick to unlocking them / getting them to move?**
A: They are just very stiff, as they need to be to function.  Try screwing a piece of scrap wood to each side, maybe 12" long, and you will be able to move them. I have used thes several times, and they work perfectly.  You are underestimation the force needed to flex a hinge that can hold a 20-30 lb. lid.

**Q: Does this come with the mounting jig that is pictured?**
A: The packages that I purchased did not come with a mounting jig.  I would recommend getting a jig and a self centering drill bit to pre-drill the holes for the mounting screws, it makes installation a breeze.

Great hinges, if you use the correct hinges and the correct number, the top stays where you put it. I have used these hinges in 12 boxes so far and all have worked well. A thing to note, the back of the box has to be 3/4" . There really can't be anything else on the back that makes the back thicker than the 3/4" because of the way the hinges are designed. The two hinges held the toy-chest lid in place with no trouble at all. Highly recommend these if you’re looking for something that’s clean looking and easy to install. They can be installed either flush mount or with an overhang. The hinges also hold the lid at any angle, which is very important because the lid will not drop on kids fingers.
