Will this work for a stainless steel espresso maker (Primula)?

It leaked when I used it in my Bialetti espresso pot. I ended up buying the Bialetti brand and I had no leaks.

will this work on a generic 6 cup moka pot I bought in the 70's? No name anywhere on it.

It’s worth a try; it seems the shape and size would be fairly close since it sounds like yours is a similar design. Double-check the specifications and measure against your Moka pot.

How do you know when replace them?

You replace the gaskets when they get hard, my pot was purchased in 1965 and ihave replaced the gasket 5 times. As for the filter, not yet. But given the age of my pot, its probably good to have
