The key to getting good skin (using only products available on Amazon Prime)!!!
Okay, so I rarely if ever write long reviews and want to write out the first skincare system that I’ve found that actually works for me (using all products available on Amazon)—b/c I’m stoked (and blowing off work)! I’m 27 and have combination skin. I think my breakouts tend to be hormonal, with zits popping up in the middle of my forehead and chin, on/around my jaw, and on the sides of my face by my eyebrows. Also, my nose was a landmine of blackheads and huge pores, and I get really bad dark circles around my eyes. Product List: - Face Brush: Silicone Cleanser Waterproof Multifunctional Electric Facial Cleansing Brush (sold by Ailaiya), cost: $10 First of all, if you don’t have one of these vibrating silicon face brushes, stop what you’re doing and get one. There are super expensive ones at Sephora, but I risked getting a knock-off one off Amazon from Ailaiya for $10 dollars, and I love it. It’s held up really well, and it can break/I can rebuy it literally 20 times before it’s the same cost as the Foreo Luna 2, which for some reason is $200 (HOW!!). I never used a silicon face brush before (I had a hair one for like 2 weeks and then it started to mold, so never again), but it’s awesome. My $10 dude is gets the job done and has literally all the features I can imagine a vibrating silicon face brush could need: bumpy (with different thicknesses), made of silicon, vibrates, comes with a cord for recharging (just make sure you close the charging hole in the back with the silicon plug when you’re washing your face so you don’t get water in it). Also, outside of exfoliating (the first time I used it, I could literally see where it had unplugged pores on my nose), it’s great b/c it’s fun to use. I wash my face way more thoroughly/regularly than I ever have in my life, and that in and of itself is a miracle, because I am a lazy person. Generally, I wet my face with water, then throw a dime-sized drop of cleanser on it, and go to town, making sure to try to get the cleanser to lather and getting in all the nooks and crannies around my nose and along the underside of my chin. I wash my face with this little guy for around a minute probably. Note: My mom taught me that when washing your face/applying any lotions, you should always try to go in an upward motion to fight against gravity. Idk if this is scientifically a thing (sounds like it’s not…), but my mom looks way younger than she is so I’m just trusting her on this one. —————————— Step 1) Daily Cleanser: Desert Essence Thoroughly Face Wash (sold by SportingDoc). COST: $9 This face wash is amazing. It’s 100% natural and allegedly organic (though to be honest, that’s just a plus b/c I’m sure I’ve put so many weird chemicals on my face in the past trying out different cleansers). It combines soap with a bunch of different oils—tea tree, coconut, olive, lavender, and peppermint—and extracts—Chamomile, Goldenseal, Awapuhi, Bladderwrack. It smells really good and kind of earthy. The tea tree in it is great, b/c it naturally is antimicrobial/fungal and anti-inflammatory, which basically treats what acne is: inflamed, bacteria-filled pores. I got this at the same time as the silicon brush, but I can say that this is the first time that my face has ever literally be *squeaky clean* after washing it. Also, I just literally don’t have breakouts anymore. Like no pimples. And my blackheads pretty much just disappeared off my nose, and my pores got clean and tight. Some cleansers when you switch to them, they make you break out, but I did not find that this was the case with this cleanser. Throw a dime-sized drop of cleanser on your lil electric brush. This soap doesn’t really lather as much as other cleansers I’ve used (maybe it’s b/c I’m using the electronic brush?). When I’m washing, it generally lathers up after like 15 seconds, and then as I keep washing, any bubbles that did come up disappear after like 45 seconds. After though, my skin feels *so* clean and fresh. Word of caution: DO NOT GET THIS IN YOUR EYES. It will suck. It will burn. However, because we are mostly adults here with fairly strong motor function skills, this is easy enough to avoid. ————————————— Step 2) Face Serum: Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid for Face & Eyes (sold by NaturalBeautyIc): COST: $20 After I thoroughly rinse my face with warm water and pat it dry, I move on to the serum. I’m sure there are YouTube videos that tell you how to properly apply serums, but I honestly have no clue. I just take a drop or two (you do not need a lot, and a little goes along way), put it in my palm, then dab it around my face. Then, I rub the serum in with an *upward* motion (fighting against gravity) until my whole face is covered. I let it sit on my face for about a minute to absorb into my skin (normally, I brush my teeth in the morning during this time b/c #efficiency). Vitamin C is great for your skin b/c it’s necessary in creating collagen and can potentially prevent/treat UV damage. This serum also has Hyaluronic acid (helps bind moisture to the skin keeping it dewy and hydrated), vitamin E (helps reduce the appearance of acne scars/discoloration), aloe, and other goodies. I’ve found that this has significantly reduced the darkness of some of my longstanding acne scars, which is crazy b/c I’ve literally had them for years. Overall, it’s also just really improved my skin. My pores are WAY smaller, my skin is super moisturized, and I’ve also seen redness around my jaw minimize. ————————————— (Optional) Eye Serum: Vitamin C Eye Gel For One Eye Bags Treatment (sold by SunBlessed Botanicals): COST: $23 So I use this, but it’s kind of pricier. If you’re already using the Vitamin C Serum above, you’re already getting the benefits of Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid (though this has Amino Acids and Licorice and some other things). However, I’ve found that this eye gel specifically has helped with dark circles/puffiness/wrinkles under my eyes and feels more targeted. I saw immediate improvement in the tightness of the skin under my eyes. My under-eye area was less puffy and spots where I could see wrinkles develop filled out. I’m fairly young so I don’t have that many wrinkles under my eyes yet, but it seems to have stopped them from getting deeper. For dark circles, this is product is more of a consistent improvement thing. I’m sure I’m always going to have some darkness under my eyes, b/c I am a human, and a human that gets very little sleep. For the dark circles, it steadily helps, but it’s not going to be like you put it on once and they’re gone. Also, while it’ll lighten the darkness all over, I found that the lightening was at first the most noticeable toward the outside/center of my eye, and slowly kept lightening overtime the skin under my eye closer toward my nose (where dark circles are the darkest). Once I let my face serum set (or if I’m impatient, toward the end of the time I’m giving it to set), I take a super small amount of this stuff and dab it under my eye. The box says you probably shouldn’t rub it in, so I try to avoid doing that, but I still do sometimes, b/c I’m also a human of habit. ————————————— Day Moisturizer: L'Oreal Paris Futur-e Moisturizer Facial Day Lotion SPF 15, Normal to Dry Skin, 4.0 Ounce (sold by Amazon.com Services, Inc.), COST: $9 I’ve been looking for a good day moisturizer for a while now. This stuff is great b/c it has SPF, which is really the main thing I want in a moisturizer, plus it has the added benefit of Vitamin E. It’s really lightweight and not greasy at all, so it doesn’t clog pores at all or feel heavy/thick on your face (I hate it when you put on a moisturizer and you can feel it on you for the rest of the day). It’s also wonderful because it gives my face almost a matte finish and minimizes, rather than adds to, shininess after the serums and stuff. It also makes my skin like baby soft. Like, my face is the softest and most supple it’s ever been. I generally just squirt a pump and apply after I’ve put on the face serum and the eye serum. A lot of times, I’m impatient so I’ll put it on when the eye serum is still setting, but that’s okay. Also, again, I make sure to rub in my moisturizer upward, rather than down, to fight against gravity. ————————————— Night Moisturizer: Tree Of Life Retinol Cream Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid (sold by Flawless. Younger. Perfect), COST: $13 Retinol is one of those buzzy face care terms right now, so I figured I’d try this out. This has Retinol and hyaluronic acid, plus jojoba, green tea, B5, and shea. It’s definitely heavier (though not greasy!) than the L’Oreal Futur-e moisturizer (though that moisturizer is just so lightweight that probably most moisturizers will be heavier than it), but that’s okay b/c I only use this Retinol cream at night. After you put it on, it’s crazy b/c you can actually feel it working. To be honest, sometimes it’s irritated my skin or kinda subtly burned after the fact, but not to the point where my face was visibly irritated in the morning. It feels like it tightens my skin and my pores and just makes my skin look and feel firmer (for example, I used to be able to see lil wrinkles across the bridge of my nose but they’re not really there anymore) ————————————— TOTAL: $51 for the cleanser, serum, and day and nighttime moisturizer, plus the facial brush. The prices are really fair, and you get a good amount of product in each, which would take me at least 4 months to go through, if not longer. That’s like $15 dollars a month for four amazing skin care products, or 42 cents a day. Plus, throw in $10 for the vibrating silicon brush—which again, YOU MUST GET B/C IT IS A GAME CHANGER—and it’s $61 dollars, which I’m very down to pay and honestly a lot cheaper/better than the products I used to pick up from Clinique or grab from the drugstore, which never worked as well as this system does. Anyway, I’ve literally blown off an entire afternoon of work writing this, so I hope it helps. Also, I didn't receive a cent from any of these companies or free products, like some reviewers do. I'm just a happy customer with the best skin of her life! Cheers!

A gentle foam for those who want squeaky clean hair and scalp
I have dry hair and an itchy scalp. What I had been using did not help my problem. I love tea tree for so many things that I thought this Desert Essence might be of value to me. I knew the brand well and love it. On the first shampoo I noticed how well it lathered and how it made my head feel tingly cool and fresh. And, surprisingly, the pump works perfectly. Most pumps do not and I don't buy anything that has one. The shampoo foams nicely and the bottle size just right for my shower and my hand. It's very easy to use. The results were great. My scalp and hair felt refreshed and clean. No itching. And my hair was soft as kitten fur. My hair still tends to be dry. I put some Alberto on it as I've done for over forty years. It shines again. If this sounds like the sort of shampoo you're looking for, I highly recommend it.

Best Face Wash!
Been using for decades. Very effective and astringent. A little goes a long way, as it foams better than others, but not an incredible amount. That can lead to applying too much, then having to wash longer thereby risking dry skin. I find using it in a foaming pump dispenses the proper amount. I have oily skin, but also sensitive to drying. I find this formula great. I can omit moisturizer after using and my face won't peel off from dryness. It can build up after awhile and gum up dispensers. And if you over tighten the cap on this bottle it will crack. Have had that happen half a dozen times. Too thin or cheap plastic. DE you can do better. I've grown to enjoy the smell, though in reality tea tree is a bit noxious. This is no fault of the product. And the it's not heavily perfumed. But also not fragrance-free. I do wish they offered different fragrances, like mint or gentle herbals. But the tea tree is the secret to the magic, so I guess it'll do.

Does not over dry over strip my skin does not feel tight after I've washed it my pores look better. I'm not breaking out as much as I had been. It's a great product at a great price get a such a large amount.

Thoroughly Clean, most definitely!
First of all, you need to buy a foaming pump to use the refill size of this product or you're not getting the most for your money! I read a few reviews saying they were just pouring it straight into their hand. This product is VERY liquidy, and you would be pouring most of the product down the drain with each use if you poured it straight from the bottle. Okay, now for the review: I bought this back in November of 2013 and wanted to continue using this for a while so I could really give a good review. It's now been 4 months of (mostly consistent) use so, this is my opinion for ya. Hope it helps! In my foaming soap pump I originally poured this product in straight, no dilution. It has a very strong tea tree oil smell, it was..different, since most face washes are fragranced to be flowery and girly, but I didn't mind. It washed away and didn't linger. My skin was very clean after use. Squeaky clean, even! I immediately had to put moisturizer on or I felt way too dried out. I have combination skin so the dry parts seemed to get very tight and flaky, whereas the oily parts seemed…normal or on the dry side of normal. After a few days my skin freaked out and I looked like a lobster :( It was terrible! It cleared up, but it took around 3 days, during that time I had switched to using a sensitive Olay face wash, using it very sparingly and putting aloe on after (I mostly just splashed with water if I needed to refresh throughout the day). I was so upset that I, 1. looked like a lobster and, 2. couldn't enjoy this product like the positive reviewers! It was such a good deal, I was so bummed! I stopped using this product because I was very wary about having my skin react negatively again. A few weeks later I was planning on writing a review for this, but instead I decided to read through some more of the reviews already here. I was hoping to find someone else who had a similar reaction and if they had tried anything to help. Well, a few mentioned diluting the product with water. DUH! Why didn't I think of that?! I went on to dilute it to a 1:1 ratio, a few uses later it was still too drying for me, so I added even more water (it's probably now a 3 or 4:1 ratio) The foaming action of the pump is really so helpful, 1. You're not wasting product, which is awesome. 2. You don't need to make the lather, it's already there! It's nice when you're feeling lazy and just want to go to bed, but you know you need to wash your face first 3. You're diluting it, so you're going extend the life and use of this huge refill bottle. I haven't needed to buy face wash since I bought this, and I won't need to for quite a while. The original bottle looks like I haven't even used it. I use this face wash almost everyday (I did have another face wash I was using along with it occasionally). I only need 2 pumps to have enough lather to clean my whole face. It takes off facial make up pretty easily, but I do NOT recommend using this on or around your eyes. I can't say much about this face wash clearing acne or anything, I haven't seen any improvement…but I also haven't seen any adverse reactions with the few pimples I do get. Honestly, I *would* repurchase this because it was such an awesome deal and I finally figured out how to make it work for me! TL;DR / The Short Version: *Very liquify, not a gel *Buy a foaming soap pump *Dilute, dilute, dilute *Lasts a very long time *Can be drying *Didn't notice it helping OR hurting pimples *Smells very strongly of tea tree oil, but it does not linger once washed off *I feel that it is a great deal Hope this helps :)

Crisp Feel and Scent
I was a Dessert Essence Body Wash for my face user for nine to ten years. I still love it, but the bottle integrity seems to have chaged in the last year ar so. That bottle waste lots of the liquid out when it's turned upside down in the shower, unlike prior. So, I switched over to the actual face wash. At first I didn't like it's thinness as compared to the body wash's thickness of the actual cleanser it was disconcerting, but thick or thin does not matter in reality. It is the effectiveness that matters. Even though they both have coconut in them the scents are completely different. The former definitely has a light scent of coconut whereas the face wash's aroma is more like tea tree. That was kind of disconcerting for me at first, but it does/did grow on me. The cleansingis phenomenal. It's like it immediately lifts the dirt of the day off my face. My face instantly feels clean and softer. I don't get a moisturizing factor to it. I do feel as though I need to put some moistrizer on directly, actually, but I do like the way my face feels after I have cleansed my face with it. Frankly, no matter what you cleanse your face with, in my opinion you must put moisturizer on your face anyway, within 30-45 seconds of drying your face. Or while your pores are still open to receive the moisture. I would and do recommend it to anyone who'd like an absolutely clean face. Yes, Dessert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash is my new go-to face and neck cleanser.

Dry-sensitive skin approved
First week I have been using this and when it says "thoroughly clean" it means it!!!! I was skeptical because it says for oily skin, which i have the exact opposite skin, sensitive, dry skin but this works amazing and did not dry my skin nor irritate it. Some say the scent is a bit much but I am used to the smell of tea tree oil. It is a commonly used oil in my house so I don't mind it, I actually love it lol. I had the la roc posay cleanser sensitive skin, prior that I used for years and I am transitioning to "no tox" living and this was reccomended, I am so happy I went with this one. The price is also phenomenal for what you are getting.

Large Bottle Saves Money and Leaves Skin Feeling Clean & Refreshed
I was happy to find this face wash in such a large bottle since it lasts much longer than the smaller sizes and is perfect for refilling dispensers. If you use this cleanser daily, buying the 32 oz bottle is much more economical than purchasing the smaller bottles over and over. It has saved me a good amount of money in the long run. The cleanser leaves my skin feeling clean, refreshed, and invigorated without feeling stripped or overly dry. The tea tree oil gives it a fresh, clean sensation that I especially enjoy in the morning or after a long day. One of the main reasons I continue buying this product is the ingredient list. It's one of the few facial cleansers I've found that isn't loaded with unnecessary harsh chemicals. I appreciate that it uses more natural ingredients while still doing an excellent job of cleansing my skin. Pros: - Excellent value compared to buying the smaller bottles - Large size is perfect for refilling dispensers - Leaves skin feeling clean, refreshed, and invigorated - Tea tree oil provides a fresh, clean feeling - Gentle enough for everyday use - Made with ingredients I feel good about using Cons: - Tea tree scent may be a little strong for those sensitive to fragrance Overall, this is one of my favorite facial cleansers. It works well, lasts a long time, and buying the larger bottle saves a significant amount of money compared to purchasing the smaller sizes. I'll definitely keep repurchasing it.

Excellent Cleanser
This facial cleanser is great for oily /acne prone / combination skin. When I first started using it, it left my combination skin feeling dry; but now it leaves me with clean, soft, balanced skin. It is gentle enough for daily use and effective at removing light-coverage makeup (can't really comment on its effectiveness at removing heavier makeup, as I only wear light-coverage foundation). I've also successfully used it to remove my mascara (be careful not to get it in your eyes). In the mornings, I use just a drop of cleanser on my T-zone so as not to make my skin too dry. I have also used this cleanser as a body wash and it left my skin clean and soft without feeling stripped or coated. The 946 ml bottle will last for quite a while. Might be worth purchasing a smaller bottle to see how you like it before committing to the larger one. As others have commented, the cleanser is very watery and it can be difficult to avoid wasting it. I've worked around this by making a small hole in the inner seal to control product flow. I'd recommend this cleanser to anyone looking for a gentle, natural cleanser for their oily, acne prone or combination skin.
