More than just boring, old ice. I call them, "disco balls in my glass." The shape also keeps it from melting fast, keeping your drink colder for longer.

Love this mold. Makes great, fancy looking and large sized ice balls to enjoy with my sotch. Great purchase.

Tried these because I hear how the larger pieces of ice melts slower and keep drinks cooler. The ice spheres are small enough to fit in any cup. Not so sure about lasting longer than real ice cubes. But they are different and work.

It's not quite as easy to make as the video shows. You need to make a few trial runs to get the "crystals" to come out reasonably good. If you put too much water, the top lifts up as the ice expands, and the shape isn't so good, so you kind of have to experiment. My major complaint is that they really don't LOOK like "crystals," but just round balls without the sharp edges. Also, I read that if you use spring water (which I did) to make the ice, they will come out clear, which would make them look really great. That didn't work at all. They're as foggy as ever. If anyone has the answer to this dilemma please publish! I'm willing to keep trying! It is fun to make them, but I really would like some clear ones with sharp edges!

Hard plastic doesnt like to let go of ice easily. Does work but it takes some work to remove the ice from tray.

Skip this one, it doesn't work. Because both pieces are plastic, it doesn't form the balls correctly. Grab one with silicone, this is two hard pieces of plastic. I have even tried clamping both sides together in the freezer, to no avail.
