Rit Back to Black Dye Kit, 5.88 x 5 x 2.38

I love wearing black but clothes do tend to fade after washing. I had several t's and dresses that needed refreshing. This works! It makes black clothes look new again and extends the life of my favorites. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long when washed. I used the setting powder, but I'm not sure it does much; clothes do bleed when washed. It works temporarily, so I'll need to repeat the process again to keep them looking new. Use a bucket; the black dye stains everything, especially the sink! It comes out with bleach and a good scrubbing.

This product is seriously one of the best things I have ever gotten. I bought it multiple times now. I am a millenial goth lady, married to a gen x goth lady. I have 2 daughters who also like a mix of bright cheery clothes, and black goth clothes. Basically we have a lot of black clothing, and a lot of it is incredibly faded. I love thrifting as well, and sometimes I end up with cute things in colors I dont wear much. I also love stretchy comfy jean shorts but the softest are always light wash which I begrudgingly wear. Anyways, I decided to try this on some things, because we had an accident where bleach spilled in my laundry room and me and my friend tried to fix it as fast as possible but so much got bleach stained :( anyway I liked this product so much that I bought tons more with 1 day shipping to try on other things, because I got an adhd fixation going on now lol. I was able to dye me and my wifes faded black shirts so they look crisp and dark black, in multiple materials too not just cotton! Even band t shirts etc if they are printed the pattern doesnt dye which is wonderful. Was able to dye some light color band shirts I like but tend to not wear for thr colors, and now I love wearing them. I then dyed many things like tank tops that had colors I didnt like, and did the same for clothes my daughters didnt like the colors. Had a blue and white and navy striped top that is now light grey, charcoal, and black stripes which looks absolutely awesome! I dyed maxi skirts we had, including a white one that was totally see thru which I can now wear. I added vinegar and salt which help with certain materials, and used 2 big stock pots on the stove, and dyed in one, and fixant it with the other. I did not need to stir for 30 to 60 min like it said either, just occasional like soup lol. I also got extra dye because the water evaporates and gets sucked up by clothes, so if u are doing a ton u will have to add water and lots more dye, because towards the end, the dye water will just make it grey, its not as powerful, so keep it new. If anything is too light just dye it again after washing it. Anyways this is awesome, and I am excited to wear my clothes again, its like having a new wardrobe, and I'm so happy, as is my wife. My kids want me to buy more colors soon like purple which we all like, so I'm gonna try that soon too. Wish I tried this in the past to avoid giving away clothing id have still worn! Buy this, and fix up your clothes, you wont regret it!

Good convenient dye. Easy to follow instruction. Color doesn't last as long as I would like even with the color fixative included.

Photo: My old black shirts were starting become this gross heather-grey shirt. If I wanted grey shirts I wouldn't've bought black shirts to begin with! After dying them, they become a brilliant black, about as black as my speaker, hat, jacket, other black items around the house. In person the black is even more noticeable, so I'm pleased. (that shirt on the left I forgot to dye lol, it was in the hamper) So I pulled out a plastic tub and filled it with hottest tap water (55 C), and let 5 shirts per batch soak in that with a tsp of dish soap and half a bottle of the dye for an hour(max time listed on instructions). I turned the shirts over every 10 mins. I also left a plastic tub lid on so it kept temp high. Did the post care instructions and they turned out pretty good! I'll defo be using this again in a few years when they start fading again! It's inconvenient to do it in a plastic tub, so next time I'll be doing it the actual bath tub, and I'll process all my shirts at once. The instructions say maximum of 2 adult t-shirts per half bottle, but I did 5 and they came out great. But my shirts started grey, so that is a factor. Black t-shirt is my everyday wear, so I want to look good. Cheaper than buying new shirts for sure.

Easy to use and effective! I read through the instructions and also checked online reviews before using it. I even leave the pants in longer than recommended to ensure full coverage. While I did need to repeat the process twice, it brought my pants back to a rich, dark black—exactly what I was hoping for.I’d definitely repurchase this instead of buying a new pair of pants. I'm giving this five stars because it did what it said it would, make my faded hoodie black again. The hoodie also had a bleach stain that went away. Two complaints; my first box had two bottles of the jet black dye and no fixative. Amazon quickly sent a replacement. Second, I ended up with a "ring" around my sink! So much for stainless steel. I had missed it during my cleanup, so I had to do some vigorous scrubbing to remove it the next day. Rit's website has much more detailed instructions than what comes in the box, and they have a very helpful YouTube video too. If you are dying a heavy garment, like my thick cotton hoodie, expect some splashing. Prep your work area accordingly.

Just follow the instructions and make sure you set aside the required time.

Second purchase of this dye kit Perfect for renewing faded black clothing

Lo usé para pintar mi Tote Bag y quedo como nueva, le dio una segunda vida porque ya estaba muy descolorida. This kit is amazing. I used it on shirts and denim shorts, and it returned them to their original deep black. I'd tried a bottle of dye from the supermarket before, which was okay; however, they quickly lost their color again. This kit also includes a color-setting product that seems to be working extremely well at keeping the clothes looking new. It's much better value on Amazon too, and heaps cheaper than replacing the items of clothing. Just make sure you have laundry bleach, as it takes a couple of tub cleans to remove the dye from the washing machine.
