Exactly as described, uncoated, great for homemade game
These are exactly as stated. They are uncoated so they will stain and get damaged faster than playing cards. But, I wanted to make a game at home and wanted something that would take ink. I used fine tip permanent markers and paint pens. I set them out individually to dry so they wouldn’t smear. They shuffle nicely. I’d imagine they would get damaged faster if they were used a lot or used by small children. But, they work fine for adults.

excellent quality
after figuring out which markers did not smear, these worked great for making our own Greek God Pokemon cards for a greek myths class. turned out awesome!

Works with pens depending on the type of pen!
I bought these cards to have small notecards on my desk and was specifically interested in uncoated/matte cards that worked well with pens. When they arrived they felt smoother than I was expecting, not full-on glossy but also not matte. I got to testing my use case. The product page lists multiple types of compatible writing devices (pens, crayons, markers, paints) but it's interesting that the description narrows that down to just two (permanent pens & markers). Based on my test, I think this makes sense. I ran two tests and pictures are available for each. The first test involved different types of pens, where I compared a gel pen (Pilot G2), a classic rollerball (e.g., Bic), an ultrafine Sharpie, and a Fine Sharpie. I wrote "This is a test" and immediately ran my finger across what I had just written. Results: - Gel pen: severe smearing - Classic rollerball: minor smearing - Ultrafine Sharpie: no smearing - Fine Sharpie: minor smearing* * if you look at the image you'll notice the last words written smeared the most and the first barely at all. If you allowed it to dry for even 5 seconds after the last word, there would be no smearing. Conclusion: using a permanent marker goes a long way to having a clean card but may not be your preferred writing utensil. In the second test, I wrote "This is a test" with my preferred writing utensil (Pilot G2 Gel roller) and waited a set amount of minutes (0/1/2/5/10/20) before running my finger across the cards. Results: - 0 mins: major smearing - 1 min: minor smearing - 2 min: minor smearing - 5 min: minor smearing - 10 min: minor smearing - 20 min: very little smearing The picture will show various amounts of smearing from 1-10 minutes that I classified as "minor" because I think there are differences in the amount of ink that is laid down by the pen, the pressure of my finger when I smear, etc. Ultimately I'm looking for little to no smearing, so it doesn't really matter in the mid-range. Conclusion: a gel pen probably isn't the best option but will dry eventually if left unattended. Based on my usage, this is probably 2-3 stars but based on the description, I think it is worthy of 4 or even 5 stars. I'm going down the middle at 4 stars for the lack of clarity.

Shuffle Up!
I got these because it’s hard to shuffle regular note cards. It also helps to let the ink dry before touching them. Ink will smear but they’re great for studying and do creative projects

These are print friendly---if you are careful
I have a Canon tank type injket. I got it specifically to make fun games and educational manipulatives for my kids. So why not give this a try? I learned a lot with this first print. 1) Do not touch the face of the card, your hands have oils that will mess them up. 2) DO NOT let them stack in the printer. They are smeary as all get out. 3) Print small batch. (5 or so) Because they ink stays on the surface, the rollers get bogged down. 4) Hit them with a heat gun (at around 200c) and dry off the ink. 5) Then spray them with acrylic as directed by Apostrophe in the above Q&A. 6) Let dry overnight I have only done one side, which is fine for my purposes. I don't think I'd trust my printer to run through again just to make an image on the back.

Good Quality, but measurements are not correct.
The thickness and feel are great, but the card size is 1/16 smaller on both the length and width, making them 2.4375x3.4375, which makes a big difference when accounting for tolerances in cutting labels to put on them.

you can write on these!
I know, I should not be so excited, but I've been burned buying cards like this that claim to be markable yet turn out to have a coating that prevents any kind of ink from sticking (and pencil from smearing). These are the ones you want. There is a bit of shine to them and yet they take ink and paint and pencil just fine. The dimensions are also nice, just close enough to a credit card to fit in your wallet (but you already knew that, this review is just about the coating/no-coating)
