I wasn't before. I was once pro-choice. My two closest girlfriends each had 1 abortion and the other had two. At the time it seemed like the right decision. The one who had one abortion was 18 and worked retail with a boyfriend who was strung out on meth. The other miscarried twice for reasons I am not sure of but I was there for her. We are all in our 50s. Both women never had children. One friend expressed to me that she can no longer be friends with me because of me it pains her to see me with my children. She stopped all communication with me after I had my 2nd child. The other knows the exact age of her aborted children and it haunts her. She talks longingly of the children she could have had. There is a quote from the movie, "a woman carries that child for 9 months, a woman who has had an abortion carries that child forever." This a topic that literally brings out the politics in every conversation. Pregnancy does not know your political leanings. The decision of pregnancy is vividly clear and obvious but for some it is murky and scary.
