Fantastic Desk Top Phone!
I can't say enough about this Uniden big button desk top phone. After struggling with an AT&T slimline phone, whose Caller ID screen malfunctioned after one week, and wondering if the small buttons got the call through, I decided to purchase this phone to make life easier at the desk. This phone is a charm, with a large flip up caller ID screen, screening calls has never been easier. The large button numbers make it simple to dial at arms length. The speaker phone is awesome, with clear sound. This phone comes with all the standard features that include, redial, store function, menu and delete buttons, as well as finger tip volume control on the front panel of the phone. A large flashing light illuminates the entire side of the phone during incoming calls. A call waiting flash button is in plain site to press if needed even if on speaker phone. The price of this phone is only a few bucks more than the awful slimline series from AT&T, and worth every extra cent. Also, the large keypad, makes this an essential purchase for senior citizens as well. This phone without question, will make a nice addition for your home phone needs, whether it is used for the home office, or any other area of your home.

Excellent Phone!
Purchased this phone after spending sometime reviewing all available option/products to replace my old AT&T phone (AC plug, back lit LCD screen caller ID). I am very happy with purchase of this phone. I was bit concerned about the possible dim back light but LCD screen is (Very) large and easy to read. Only time you will miss the AC plugged back light is only if you the phone is in absolutely dark room/area. Other then that, LCD is very easy to read. This phone use AA batteries for LCD screen and do not require AC plug which saves lots of spacing and simple to set-up. Call sound is absolutely clear and the volume control really works well. Bell ring sound is bit on the high pitched and may annoy some people but it will definitely get your attention when the call comes in. We are not a old person but this phone's large LCD screen, Large button and the volume control works very well and very useful. Low price for this phone is a major plus and the design is very nice/modern. I would highly recommend highly to anyone.

Good phone with two weaknesses
It functions well and the conversation sound is clear. The receiver's shape/configuration is such that it the cradle does not hold it well. I'm forever having the mouth piece slipping out of its place when I hang up. The display is typical liquid crystal (LCD) - hard to read at all but one perfect angle. I wish I had a back-lit display or LED display. Speaker phone works fine as do the auto-dial functions and the buttons are large. I feel it is worth what I paid.

Great Phone! No More Batteries.
I had been using a set of 4 cordless phones. Whenever I have a long call I have to chase around the house for a phone with fully charged batteries. This got very annoying. A set of 4 batteries cost as much a new set of four cordless phones. Enter this corded Uniden phone. No more dying batteries. For mobility, I still have the cordless phone set. This phone has a great display with date and time, caller ID, and it displays the length of the call. Setup was very easy. I haven't setup my speed dial numbers yet because I already have those numbers on my cordless phone. I have no complaints with this product. FOLLOW UP JULY 25, 2012 Problem with the phone. It started on July 24th. The speaker comes on and therefore the loud dial tone when phone is not in use. This happened many times. I had to disconnect the phone line at night or when I am out. I slid a piece of rubber between the speaker button and the circuit board to cut of all electrical contact. Later the speaker came on again. This means the problem is in the circuit board. I'll have to go look for another phone and take the loss on this one. Hopefully this is the only phone with this problem. If not, I give it only 1 star.

Defective as received; lightweight and cheap feeling
The phone had mostly good reviews and is a speakerphone, so I ordered it. As received it would not dial out. The timer started running but no ring tone and no sound. The phone seems very cheaply made with lightweight plastic material. I went through the setup several times. However, I have never had a phone that needed any setup just to dial out and receive calls. I was never able to call out with it. I don't have caller ID on my line, so could not test that feature. Putting 4 AA batteries did not affect volumes or other functions, they are only for the caller ID functions. I could receive calls ok. The ringer volume was not very loud. Being severely deaf, I need a loud ringer and phone volume. The speakerphone and handset volumes were ok. I would not recommend this phone. I returned it and ordered an amplified ATT speaker phone.

Caller ID just stopped working
I've had this for 2 years, we liked the big buttons and display. It was working fine until Caller ID stopped working a few weeks ago. I contacted my phone service provider who after looking into the problem said everything was reset and working fine on their end, and that it might be the phone. I plugged in a Vtech spare phone I had to see if the caller ID would show on that and it did, but nothing on this Uniden. I emailed Uniden support who told me to replace the batteries. I did but that did NOT solve the problem. I emailed them back to ask what more can be done and they never replied back. I wish I could return it, but unfortunately can't anymore. It was a good phone, but I need the Caller ID to work.

Blasts your ear drums out
The volume of the person you are speaking to can be adjusted just fine. But however low you turn that volume to, your own voice blows your ear drum out. I have to rotate the phone so that the mouth piece is rotated way up towards the top of my head so that my own voice doesn't deafen me, but then it still sounds hollow. Oddly enough the caller has no complaint about the volume of my voice when I talk with the mouthpiece so far away. Other than this one complaint, the phone works fine. I really just wanted a corded phone that no one could lose so I would be able to answer calls instead of hurriedly forming a search party to find one the cordless phones before the answering machine grabs the call or the caller hangs up. Also, I don't need to find reading glasses to see the caller ID on this thing. This phone is great if you just need to use it for answering the call and then transferring to a cordless phone (once someone finds one for you). It would not be good to use this as a phone on which you are going to have extended conversations; you'll go deaf.

Eccentric, but I like it!
This phone has an eccentric mix of features, and I see why some people might like it while others might be disappointed. I like the styling, the big buttons, and the big pop-up display for my home office. I also LOVE that you can easily program a series of numbers and pauses -- so now I can press one button and work my way through the 4-layer menu that my voice mail system requires before it will let me change my recorded message to let people know when I'll be out for a day or two. The phone does NOT have a "message waiting" light, to tell you when you have a voice mail. But, if you clear the message history as calls come in, then the phone tells you in big letters whether you have "No Calls" or "1 New Call" or however many. The most annoying eccentricity, from my perspective, is that the phone has a loud piercing digital ring and, as far as I can tell, YOU CANNOT CHANGE THIS. I've decided for now to like the ring, given that I have no choice, but it seems pretty standard these days for phones to give you some choice about ring volume or tone. The phone also has no AC connection and runs only on 4 AA batteries. The phone is marketed, at least in part, for the elderly, but they will lose all save numbers (like the rest of us) if they fail to complete the 4-battery switch within 30 seconds. Over the last several years, I've gone through three $100-$150 office phones, which have had only middling reliability and performance. This experience leads me to give this phone five stars in light of its low price and the particular features (buttons, display, programming) where it is better than my previous phones.

So far, an excellent choice for a simple phone.
I had this phone for one month and everybody in the family, especially my elderly mother, loves it. I would like to mention few things that were my concern while shopping for this phone and could help other people to decide. 1. The display is not lit all the time, only when the phone rings, however, it is very big and easy to read. 2. You need 4 AA batteries installed in order to have any display - call waiting, caller ID, time, date, etc. 3. The ringer is loud, good for people with mild hearing issues, the sound is also loud and clear when talking on the phone. 4. It only has one line. 5. I did not use the other features so I cannot comment on those.I will amend my comments in about one year to tell more about how long the display was working (main issue, the display presumably dies after 12-13 months) and how long the batteries last.

This phone is haunted - it makes random calls and answers calls! And no, this is NOT a Halloween prank!
We bought this phone just over 3 years ago (on Sep 13 2013 from amazon.ca). It was a dependable phone for about 2 1/2 years, but it has had a LOT of issues in the past few months. It is without a doubt one of the oddest things I have ever seen. Here's why. About 4 months ago I was sitting beside it and it suddenly dialed out...on its own without touching it. On the speaker phone I could hear a dial tone and then heard a ringing sound. I thought I may have accidentally bumped the speed dial or redial button so I just reached over, picked up the handset and reset it. However, over the next several days it happened at least 3 more times, sometimes while no one was in the room at least once when no one was home. My friend reported receiving a call from me with no one on the line while no one was home during this time. Then just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. Until last weekend when the phone started automatically answering incoming calls after 1/2 a ring, displaying "No Data" on the LCD and then hanging up after about 10 seconds. It did this at least 4 or 5 times over several days. I tested it a dozen times today and was able to consistently recreate the problem. When I unplugged this phone the problem went away. When I plugged this phone back in the problem came back. I don't believe in ghosts but I'll be keeping the phone in the shed just in case. Eventually I'll ditch it, but I want to hang on to it for a while in case someone wants to analyze it.

Great, reliable, corded speaker phone
It's a great corded speaker phone. It is reliable and all features work as advertised. The big buttons make it easy to see and use, especially for the elderly. The speaker comes in handy when you are put on hold and they tell you that your call is important and someone will be with you shortly. Just put the speaker on and do something else for the time being.

Fantastic phone!
Yes! So easy to install. First, I place 4 AA batteries for the call display window and then plug the apparatus into the jack. It's good to go. Have had no problem so far. Would highly recommend this to anyone especially to those who are visually impaired(phone has big dial buttons and a flashing call display window). The dial tone was loud enough that I could even hear it from a distance.
