bought this climbing ascender for deer hunting, and it’s been a game-changer. I use it when climbing up and down trees to get to my stand, and it makes the whole process smoother, safer, and way easier to adjust as I go. The grip feels solid even with gloves on, and it slides up the rope effortlessly but locks in tight when I need it to. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and gives me confidence every time I’m setting up in the dark or adjusting height during a hunt. Definitely one of those tools you wish you’d bought sooner—highly recommend it for any hunter or outdoorsman who climbs trees regularly!

I used this Safety Fall Device as a prevention just in case I was starting to fall off of My Roof in a repair job to repair some Shingles on My Roof that came off. Fortunately it never came into play as I used a Ascender Climbing Handle to pull Me up and around areas of My roof. I used a Safety Waist Harness, Carabiner Clips and a Good Climbing Rope that were all designed to fit the equipment I used. It all went well as I completed the Shingle Repair Job without incident.

From time to time I have to wash the glass on our greenhouse. I can walk on the glass on top of the green house so I tie a rope onto a nearby tree and use this thing to hold me from falling or sliding off. If I were to be doing a lot of tree work or other work where I was in need of something a bit more professional I would have purchased a more professional belay device but for my small job this works. It's not perfect but I'm still here. While up on the top of the green house I was thinking that the more expensive one that works more easily would have been better but to reiterate this one works okay. I attached it to my old windsurfing harness with a carabiner and I was good to go.

I’m giving five stars only because the product shown in the 3rd and 4th pictures works really well. It’s easy to use, simple to adjust the rope, and has a solid grip. You can see in the photos, I leaned my full weight on it while standing on a steep 9:12 roof, and it didn’t move an inch. It gave me confidence, and I’d definitely recommend that version. Unfortunately, I couldn’t review each item separately, so I have to mention everything here. Now for the 1st and 2nd pictures do not buy that version unless the issue is fixed. If you do, make sure it’s assembled correctly. Check my attached photos: the rough side that grips the rope should be on the inside and not the smooth side as shown in the 1st picture. That setup won’t hold you, and it’s a major safety hazard. Please be careful. Don’t rely on misleading reviews—your life is more important. Always double check the build before using it.

Yes it is compact and usful. The price makes it even a better purchase.

Poor quality. Used for one month on our rock wall and was great at first, then the stopping mechanism broke mid-climb.

I bought two of these to climb a 35' sailboat mast. They're Very light duty, I'm 170 Lbs, used once, it bent and I had trouble operating it on the way back down. Inspection afterward revealed heavy wear marks and bend in outer plate that interfered with locking mechanism = very unsafe! I wouldn't trust my life/limb with it again. Buyer beware and be careful!

I only used it for a week of two. It works and it is light weight. Seems to be Ok. But somehow I don't trust it, so I check it often while using it, which saved me from a disaster. The tiny spring broke while I was half way up, and the device let the rope go up or down freely! If I did not check, I would not be able to write this review!
