It's less noisy than my former window unit. I don't find it noisy at all. It's just a loud white noise machine.

can I istall the exhaust by knocking out a small square window pane and replace with precut plexi. old window is made up of glass squares

The window kit comes in multiple pieces, so what I would do instead of using plexi is simply use just the part of the kit that the hose attaches to and forget the rest of the pieces. It has a locking mechanism that may be difficult replicate with plexiglass.

Does anyone know how long the window kit is (i.e. how long does it extend)? We have a tall bedroom window and we're trying to see if it would fit.

I would say about 5 feet if stretched out.If you mean the window adapter, it comes eith extra extendable panels, I have about a 3 foot window but has enough for maybe 5 feet with all the panels.
