Review: Best racket zapper out there. I’m going pro next year - Buying my second one after having my first for about 2 years. It never activated or sparked when there wasn’t something completing the circuit. The only reason mine broke was because my guitar pedal fell on it from a top shelf onto the zapper and the metal bars flew everywhere. I tried to put them back but each one has its own place and I messed it up. So here I am buying number two. Best value for the money. U get wat u pay for unless ur getting ripped off!! So make sure ur not getting ripped off!
Review: Shocking little gadget. - I bought this device because a co-worker of mine recommended it. He had the regular version and I had to one up him. The item came right on time as always, when I buy through Prime. I was hesitant on this because i was not sure how strong the wires would be. The picture does not do it justice. The wires are more like aluminum bars about the thickness of a 8 gauge nail and are pretty strong. I have applied pressure with my hands to verify its well made and wont break. The racket end is about the size of a badminton set and the handle is the size of a tennis racket. It houses 2 C batteries. The test is how well it shocks. My first attempt sold me on it. I found a large carpenter ant and threw it onto the bars. The second it touched, electricity sparked (made a loud pop) and the ant exploded and landed about 4 feet away. It was enough that my kids didn't want to be anywhere near it or attempt to use it. I next used it on a small moth flying in my house. This did not spark, I'm assuming do to the size and little to no body mass, but i didn't release the button right away and the moth turned red and smoldered. You could see the burn going through it. I have been waiting for a large gathering of bugs outside my house in a swarm to take a swing or two at. The issue is getting use to swinging it at bugs. Fly's are pretty fast and can be hard to hit. In the end this thing is in no way a toy and does its job well. Update I have a gazebo I am building and am currently putting in the screening. Flies are coming in like crazy. I decided to get this out because, my sugar gliders, eat flies and I figured I can score them an easy meal. I have been using it and for small insects, its pretty lethal. Some flies that land on it die, and if you let off some juice, you can see their wings move from the nerves. Pretty morbid, I know. Anyways, this makes a pretty loud crack when the bugs touch it, but I'm finding larger bugs (and some smaller) are not killed by this. I hit a fly 4 times in the air, each time the fly created a spark, but did not go down. Now i don't know if these are local flies, or ones from Krypton, but many larger insects can take the shock. Most smaller ones die. Larger ones it's a toss up between death, wounded to the point they can't fly or laughing it off. I have even had a few horse flies come in. If you have never seen a horse fly, count yourself lucky. They are about the size of Mothra from the old Godzilla movies. The few that I've had, have gone down but not died. I usually just whack them and put them out of their misery before being eaten (by my gliders of course). I originally said this is not a toy, but I am finding it REALLY FUN to use.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between the executioner fly swat wasp bug mosquito swatter zapper & the executioner pro, aside from $10 & those 3 letterr (pro)?**
A: The pro uses C style batters, the non-pro uses AA. This does NOT mean one is more powerful than the other. They are both 1.5V per battery which is either used to increase to 3V, or 1.5V.

The actual difference is the PRO is advertised to be slightly larger and thicker. almost 2 inches thick instead of 1 inch, and 23 inches instead of 20. The exact measurements are Item Dimensions: PRO: 22.83 x 9.45 x 1.97 in && NON: 20 x 7 x 1 in

So, 3 extra inches wide, 2.45 extra inches long, 1 inch extra thick. The C batteries are used because they have a higher mAh rating ( Milli-Amp Hour ) than AA batteries which simply means how much energy the batteries can hold. IE, AA may hold 1000 mAh of energy, and C may hold 3000. This doesn't mean it is more powerful, it simply means you go longer between battery changes. The exact mAh rating is likely much different than I listed - I used 1000 and 3000 as an example. Basically, it means if the unit uses 100 mAh of energy ( 100 milli-amps per hour ) then you have approx 10 hours continuous use while the 3000 mAh would last 30 hours. The mAh rating applied to a battery means how much energy it can expend for 1 continuous hour of use. 1000 mAh battery means 1 mAh draw can run for 1000 hours, 10 mAh draw can run for 100 hours, 100 mAh draw can run for 10 hours and 1000 mAh draw can run for 1 hour, 2000 mAh draw will last 30 minutes if the battery can support it ( I'm unclear on the aspect of going over ).

Now, the internals of the PRO may be different - however NOTHING on the item page indicates that this is true. If the internal are different then it is possible to have a larger spark if larger caps are used to store the charge... The internals would NOT need to be changed to support C batteries vs AA batteries vs AAA batteries vs D batteries other than the dimensions and the battery cradle. They all give 1.5V each, and can be combined in series ( + to - ) to add the voltage together. 2 batteries together == 3V. 4 batteries == 6V. 8 batteries == 12V. Batteries can be added in parallel ( + to +, - to - ) to increase mAh ( which allows longer intervals between needing to change the batteries ) so some equipment may use 4x AA batteries to increase to 3V by hooking 2 in series, and then 1x in parallel for each tier to increase mAh rating to 3V and 2000 mAh rating ( if we use the previous 1000 mAh rating ). They may also keep it at 1.5V and just increase to 4000 mAh rating ( if we're still using the 1000 example ). I may be mistaken in this example as well - I can't recall whether hooking a battery in series ( + to - which increases voltage by adding the 2x together so 1.5 + 1.5 = 3v ) will also add the mAh rating or not. If it does then it becomes 2000 mAh... It may...

I just wanted to clarify because some people are claiming C batteries cause a larger spark, which is FALSE. The internals charge capacitors in these units which, when a connection is made between a positive and negative wire ( the metal bars are alternated between + and - ) by a creature shorting the connection, the capacitors release the energy incredibly fast which causes a pop because of a loose connection ( If you flip a wall switch on very slowly, you will likely hear a spark or pop. It's the same concept. The metal isn't making a connection and starts as it gets very close, the electricity bridging the gap makes the spark. ).. The pop is because more voltage is being passed through the creatures than their body can tolerate, increasing pressure and pop.

**Q: How effective on crawling roaches, also known as palmetto bugs down here in the Deep South. Is it possible to get the zapping surface at floor level?**
A: If the bug can touch the wires, I have little doubt that it will kill them. However, there are a number of issues with zapping bugs on the floor (or any surface other than on the wires of the racket. First is the thickness of the racket head, being about .44" there will be a gap of about 0.2" to the floor so the critter needs to be at least that tall. Second is that you can't really get the racket head flat on the floor, the handle will not allow it. But what concerns me more is that you would buy a racket to kill the bugs on the floor when a shoe would do just as well. The whole point of the racket is to kill bugs that are flying as it is difficult to kill them in flight any other way.My suggestion is to use the shoe and nix the racket for crawling bugs.

**Q: Hwhat is the power on it**
A: I would not know how to calculate the instantaneous power (watts) in engineering terms, but the batteries use electronic circuitry to build up a pretty high voltage which is probably stored on a capacitor until some unlucky insect gets the dubious honor of discharging it. Needless to say, this swatter has "fried" any insect that encountered me when I had it in hand. All kidding aside, I would hate to have it zap me and it is probably strong enough to persuade an aggressive dog to keep its distance.

**Q: Will this work on assassin (wheel or kissing) bugs, june bugs, or lantern flys?**
A: The Executioner does not work well on Spotted Lanternflies. I live in a highly infested area, where they were first discovered in the USA, and out of every ten that I hit with the Executioner, it might kill two or three. Another four or five drop to the ground stunned, allowing me to step on them. The other one or two jump/fly away with little effect on them. I wish this racquet would be twice as powerful as it is, but I don't know if there are any more powerful ones out there.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tried Many, Executioner is the Best
*by T***S on August 5, 2015*

This offers the best zap of any I tried. Here are some items: 1) Pro Executioner vs Executioner: - the zapper circuits are identical. I have both, opened both, they really are the same. - Pro works off two C cells so it lasts longer than the two AA powered regular version. - The Pro has a larger zapper head (more area) that the regular. - Pro comes with a not particularly rugged vinyl case. 2) Lethality: - Zaps gnats just fine. Their wings need to be oriented properly to bridge the zap gap, but swing away and it sounds like popcorn. - Blows away mosquitoes with a satisfying crack. - Stuns and occasionally kills flies. Always knocks them out of the air. - Stuns wasps, but you'll need to finish them off ala foot once they fall. - It hurts if you zap yourself. Not a toy for the young ones as the zapper mesh is easy to accidental touch 3) Durability - They can fail never to zap again. Seems like it can happen when the battery gets to low. I have one set to repair and will post what I find - The zapper mesh isn't fragile, but it not particularly strong either. Needs cardboard backing for travel 4) Competition - I've tried a lot of these. The Executioner zapper electronics are the best I've run across. - The "Astor" brand zapper looks the same, but the zap circuit is not the same and not as good. - The "Electrocutioner" has a similar but smaller head, but, again the zaperp circuit is inferior. - The protected mesh $6 to $10 dollar ones do work, but a couple of notes: -- The mesh is not usually any finer (closer) the the executioner as far a gnat zapping goes -- It can be tougher to get some bugs into the triple mesh sandwich design. -- Again the zapper circuits are lower voltage and yield a fizzle, but no a crackle-pop -- While it seems all these zappers are prone to failure, the cheaper one do seem to fail faster, but not always. It's a mystery? -- It is harder to self zap, but a curious child can easy poke his fingers in and find a way. -- The executioner discharges the mesh when you release the switch. The cheap ones don't bother and can stay somewhat "hot" for a minute or so.
