For the owner of a longcase clock, this book will give you insight into the 'hows and whys' of the movement itself, where to locate the clock, how to detect a problem that indicates a need for repair, and an appreciation of the workmanship and artistry behind the case, dial, and movement .  The owner may not be mechanically confident enough to remove the face, inspect the movement, or clean the mechanism but a little bit of clock knowledge will be invaluable when choosing a competent repairer.For those restoring and conserving longcase clocks, this guide covers every aspect of workshop procedures, tools and equipment, materials, casework, dial restoration, dating the clock, and cleaning the movement.
