The BOSCH PL2632K 3-1/4 In. Planer Kit features a tool with a 6.5 Amp motor that produces 16,500 RPM for fast stock removal and smooth finishes. this thing is great -- works well. nice adjustment wheel on the front. I bought a pack of extra planer "knives" but they don't seem to wear out super fast which is nice. be careful to use small increments, this thing can REALLY tear off a lot of wood. I do wish that the dust-port size was universal among different brands so I could hook up a shopvac.

I first ran across the concept of a power planer a few years ago, and it seemed like it might be really useful, but I was worried that it wouldn’t be as effective at removing material as I imagined in my mind. I finally broke down and bought one when it was on sale, and I should’ve done this the second I found out this tool even existed. Makes refinishing old furniture so easy. I also like to design build furniture, but sometimes you end up with two pieces of wood that don’t end up joining at exactly the same height or level. This fixes that in an instant. So much faster and cleaner and more precise than sanding away your troubles.
