Super versatile and makes packing for traveling easy
My parents loved these bags. Large enough to go on a 3-5 day trip. The detachable backpack is clutch! Excellent organization pockets and padded for laptops or tablets. Material is high quality to protect your belongings. Back straps are stored away in flap that come down over the wheels when carrying luggage on the shoulders. They loved the gray color.

If I had only one piece of luggage, I’d choose this.
We travel a lot and I’ve used all the big names including Briggs & Riley and Tumi. Hynes Eagle is now my goto carry-on bag. Overnight or a week, it’s remarkably efficient and roomy. The bag is well-made and collapses to fit under bed or behind door during travels. Compression straps and integrated backpack are easy to use and work very well. We use compression travel cubes and they pack very nicely in this bag. Zippers are solid and have held up well. My wife bought a previous version to lug ski boots, jacket and helmet around. Perfect for that. I’m glad that it’s more understated than my other luggage. Less eye-catching is better in most parts of the world. And it’s hundreds of dollars less expensive.

Great Rolling Backpack
This is exactly what I was hoping to find. All 5 bags are well made. The main backpack has super sturdy wheels that are protected. It is VERY spacious with two water bottle holders and lots of organizational features in the outside zipper pocket to hold your passport and travel documents. The smaller backpack is the perfect size for a day trip and zippers to the larger backpack or has the ability to attach and go over the handle sitting on the larger back pack. The size, durability and look are amazing. I highly recommend this roller backpack! They really thought of every need you could possibly need. You can charge your electronics, whistle if you need help and tighten up the backpack making it smaller with the compression backpack straps. There's also a side grab handle. The extra 3 bags have 3 different sizes and will come in very handy for my next trip. Buy it! You won't regret it.

Functional with lots of space
Very pleased with this product. The size is perfect, with plenty of space. I was worried about the low profile wheels but they perform well and are easier to stow away on the flight. It does not seem as heavy duty as I expected, but so far so good. Well organized and the smaller bag is perfect size for under seat storage. We shall see how it makes the long trip back, but so far it is exactly what I wanted. Not sure I can re-attached the small bag to the big one, but it was helpful to have them attached while in the airport. Let you know how that works

Great set, good price
Great combo bag Good price, sturdy construction, packing cubes are really nice. Used as carryon and personal item for trip to Europe. Both pieces have good compartments for all travel items. Backpack became our daypack. Plus, water compartments on side of backpack.

Amazing Rolling Backpack
I created a Bug-out bag/backpack for emergencies. I wanted the backpack to be on rollers because these type of emergency bags can become heavy quite quickly due to the amount of emergency items required. Furthermore, if you need to carry animals or babies on your back the rollers are nice to have for that reason as well. After trying out three other backpacks - this one was, by far, the best. It has amazing features that the other packs did not have. The overall size was a little bigger than the other packs (but can still work as a carry on in planes), the wheels are small and internal (so less likely to break off), the pack breaks into two packs, there are many different ways to carry the pack because of so many handle options, the pack come with 3 separate bags to hold clothing and toiletries or whatever you want, the fabric is heavy duty, the zippers move easily and the pack has many compartments. So glad I found this bag and had the room I needed for the many items that are needed to create an emergency pack. Thank you!

Unless you are truly backpacking, it isn’t worth it.
I got this for the backpack aspect for a trip to Italy. Maybe if I was on a “backpack across Europe” type trip, it would have made sense, but I was on tour buses and in regular hotels with elevators. I never used the backpack feature on the main suitcase. That being said, my review of the case in general: It was spacious. I am NOT a light packer but I was able to pack 9 days worth of outfits and toiletries and still had a little room. The soft side made it easy to pack full but still manipulate into overhead luggage compartments. The wheels aren’t fantastic but they aren’t horrible either. I didn’t really like the opening, I think it would have been easier if it opened completely. Overall, like I said I probably wouldn’t purchase it again. I have taken two more carry-on only trips since and opted to use my husband’s 20” hardside roller instead that moves smoother and is easier to pack. The smaller backpack, on the other hand, is good. It is roomy and comfortable to wear, though isn’t worth buying the set for it as is just a typical backpack. But unlike the bigger all bag, I have used it on subsequent trips.

ALSO SEE ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW THIS UPDATE: After having used this bag for 2 weeks in Europe in planes, trains, subways, buses and a good deal of carting around on cobblestones, I can say that I’m pretty impressed by how well it’s held up. I ended up checking the bag in but decided to wrap it in an inexpensive nylon duffle bag first, because there are a lot of loose straps that could otherwise catch in the luggage carrousel. This also has the benefit of keeping the luggage clean. Upon retrieving my bag, I just removed the duffel and stuffed it in the front pocket for the next use. It also comes in handy if you suffered from “holiday shopping fever” and come back with more stuff than you had when you left. ABOUT THE HANDLE: As mentioned below, the handle doesn’t feel that sturdy when fully extended and if you want to make it last, don’t use it to lift your bag while it’s in the extended position. Drop it down first, then lift. Better yet, use the bag handle. ABOUT THE SIZE: If you intend on using the larger bag as a carry-on, you will need to check if it fits in the ‘’bag sizing’’ frame that is usually located around the check-in desk or self check-in machines. If it’s overstuffed, it will NOT fit (sigh…) hence the nylon duffle to quickly wrap it and send to the cargo hold instead. Also, be mindful that some airlines have a maximum weight limit for carry-ons and if using cubes to pack, the weight goes up really fast even if the size of the bag remains compact. ABOUT USING IT AS A BACKPACK: To my surprise, I ended up wheeling the bag more often than I expected because it was heavy (43 lbs) and quite difficult to put on by myself. However, the option to use it as a backpack was VERY appreciated when I got to long set of stairs which are pretty much the norm on the Amalfi Coast. IN CONCLUSION: I liked this arrangement of compression cubes and wheeled backpack so much, that I’ve switched to that way of packing on all my trips. I’ve done a few more since this update and I remain satisfied. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I needed something pretty compact that I could carry on my back if need be, so I ordered this kit despite some reviews saying it was “cheaply made”. I also wanted something that I could use on two week trips to avoid having to check any luggage in, only to find out it got lost in transit. I used many small packing cubes, but not the ones that came with the bag. I used the kind that has a secondary zipper to create even more compression and was able to fit an impressive amount of stuff in there. Unless there is an obvious stitching defect somewhere, I think most complaints about the zipper busting is most likely due to overstuffing the bag. This zipper is pretty much the same as on any of my other carry-ons, so I see no particular issue there. It is true that once the retractable handle is fully extended, it doesn’t feel that sturdy but to be honest, my other carry-ons have the exact same problem. As mentioned by many, when the small bag is zipped to the larger one, the whole thing topples forward. This is logical and to be expected because the center of gravity is moved forward. Since the smaller bag is designed to slip over the extended handle, this is my preferred way to carry it when I wheel it around, which solves the toppling issue. I hope this helps someone and Bon Voyage!

Bought this luggage for a 3 week trip to Vietnam. Very impressed with the quality, love the individual clothing cubes for keeping organized. I packed on the lighter side but still felt like I had a ton of clothing options. Was able to use as a carry on without any issues.

This bag can fit a lot of stuff. It is quite sturdy and the wheels are solid which is great if you check your bag in. I love that you can wear it as a backpack too. Very useful in cities with a lot of stairs. The design of the zippers is odd and they tend to get stuck in a weird position.

I did really like this bag and would have liked to keep it, as this style (mix of rolling luggage/backpack) is really hard to find in a high-quality design. I only returned it because it was too large (slightly bigger than what is considered carry-on size). It's a high-quality bag with good zippers, sturdy wheels and solid, thick material. The colour was great and the bag looked fantastic. I really liked its different pockets/compartments and features, such as the little backpack that zips onto the front of the larger piece and especially the shoulder straps that conveniently zip into the back panel. It was almost the perfect bag, but it was slightly too large to be considered a carry-on according to some new airlines' size standards. It definately wouldn't have fit in a carry-on compartment with the new Canadian Airline regulations. But other than that, this is a very high-quality bag that I would have gladly kept. (I tend to travel only with carry-on luggage, so it's really not useful to me).

Loved this product, great material and wheels, double pull handle nice and sturdy, however it noted being 22" high. I was willing to risk the .5" more than the allowable 21.5" size for Air Canada, but it is actually 23" high in total (so 1.5" over) and being a frequent traveler I didn't want to risk it being too large every time I travel. Really disappointed because it really was a nice set.
