Worth the added protection.
Installing protective covers proved challenging. It’s best if you throw the covers into hot tap water as this will aid in softening the material allowing the cover to stretch a bit for installation. Once installed, you will notice how much abuse the cover actually takes as apposed to your equipment taking the full brunt. Cover poses is no issues on Ingersoll Rand charging cradle. Product fits Ingersoll Rand IQv20 Lithium Ion 5.6 Ah. batteries.

Lasted years
I use my impact daily and the boot fits well and has lasted several years and still fits perfect.

Tools like the IR Cordless Impact guns deserve these protective boots. Fit's like a glove and looks great too.
This fits the larger IR 20V 3.0 mA battery perfectly. You need to use the BL2005 Boot for the other two offering that are 1.5 and 2.5

Ingersoll-Rand Protective Boot for the W7152's Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery (BL2012)...
Great product to protect the outer case of the BL2010 Li-Ion Battery from becoming damaged, therefore, prolonging the longevity. Slightly pricey though for a soft plastic/flexible polymer boot. Would probably be a more popular accessory if it was not so expensive for this soft plastic protective outer sleeve.

Protect your investment.
More manufacturers should offer protective boots for batteries if they haven't already ruggedized their product. If the point was to keep the weight down on a product instead of more durable, I would go after the more durable option every time. If you do not have these for your IR batteries, get them. I had not used them in the past, and know from experience the damage i ensue on my tools.
