It will easily get you on the paper
I'm am a student of the AR-15 platform, so I'm not an expert, but I know enough. Basically, this is not a german engineered product made to give you an absolute zero accuracy. This is meant to get you on the paper, so that you can fine tune your scope or sights at the range, or class, or where ever. Don't expect to slam this into the chamber, adjust your scope and be ready to hit bullseyes at a 100 yards... In fact, don't expect to hit bulleyes at all... Afterall, you're spending $15 dollars on a laser sight... Pros: It is very very bright. It's very cheap It's close enough to get you on paper (At least mine was) It's sturdy Comes with two sets of batteries shipped quickly It's very cheap Cons: It's very cheap It's not precise Honestly, I was totally prepared to return it if it was way off, but for the price, I honestly couldn't complain. I was scheduled to take a rifle class the same week that I received this. I had a scope on my rifle that wasn't completely zeroed in, but close. I don't know if this got me much closer to zero, but when I took it to the class, I was probably about 6 clicks away from zero, and have to waist as much ammo as some of the other guys, so I couldn't complain. I've noticed that when you remove and reinsert this sight, it is not always exactly the same, which leads me to believe that either it's not perfectly flush within the barrel, or the laser is slight off, so when the cartridge happens to be turned a little different, it gives you a different laser projection. So, if you have a scope that is way off, this will get you on the paper enough to adjust and zero it in at the range. The picture I've attached shows the lazer point at around 30 yards after I had it well zeroed in. It's not terrible.

I recommend this product
I purchased 2 Bore Sights, this one and one from another manufacturer. The other was made of plastic, this one is more metallic, thus this one feels better quality. The other one stopped working as soon as I closed the bolt. I had to return it. The laser is bright up close and gets harder to see the further you move the target. I did not use it outside. I tried it here at home right out of the box to see how bright it is and it's bright, even at 25 yards, however, looking at it through my optic is a different story. Thru the optic, its easier to see up close and gets hard to see the further you get. At 20 yards, it was difficult to see through my Holosun Green Dot. I watched a few videos on youtube before buying which helped alot. I also made sure to gently close the bolt to ensure it was snug in the barrel because it can affect the accuracy of the laser. Something it helped me see was how the red dot can change at different distances, ie. 10 yards, 15 yards, 20 yards, etc. I'd recommend it. I didn't expect a bore sight this cheap to get me to absolute zero, but if you've recently purchased a firearm and aren't able to make it to the range to zero your optics, this is a great option for the price.

Not a precision bore sight.
When I read that this bore sight was for multiple calibers I just kind of assumed it had different sleeves or bushings to make it fit. It does not. It comes with no instructions so putting the batteries in first time is a 50/50 shot at getting it right. There's no on/off button or twist to shut off feature like a flashlight so the only way to turn off is to remove the batteries. I placed it in the chamber of my .308 Win and pointed it at a wall about 10' away. I could move the laser about 2" on the wall by pressing a finger against the laser. I was assuming the laser was dropping at the front from gravity but who knows. I pushed the bolt action snug up to it in hopes that would maybe center the laser in the bore and sighted my scope to the dot hoping it would get me on paper at 25 yards. It did. Barely Design and fit leave a lot to be desired but it is inexpensive and it did what I needed it to do.

No Switch
This should have been obvious and it is entirely my fault to not notice this. Once you put the batteries in, it is on until you remove them. It is bright, chambers and extracts like a .308. The variance between scope and where the laser hits, confirms what wild guesses I had at the range as to why I was missing the paper. I have since used this to bore sight two different rifles. My previous comments about the need for a switch are still valid. The screw tail section is the place to put it. Also, the LR41 batteries are really tiny. When you take them out to save battery life, those little tiny batteries fly well and go into hiding. I just ordered some more of them. The .223 version is similar but comes with six batteries not three. They are still tiny enough to sneeze away. Hold on tightly. As with all bore sighters, how precisely does the beam align with the cartridge case? I put the 223 in a power screwdriver chuck and started it turning. The beam made a small circle on the far wall of the garage slightly larger than rhe beam itself. I think this is sufficient for bore sighting. I could not test the .308 bore sighter alignment the same way. The power screwdriver chuck is not large enough. I may machine a part to hold the bore sighter in the chuck for testing
