Great Diaper Pail - Here's HOW to make it even BETTER!
This pail is pretty good and priced right, but I made it EVEN BETTER for an extra couple dollars. HERE'S HOW 1. Open the lid and remove the cup 2. Remove the useless fake coin "deodorizer" and throw in the trash (that's where it belongs) 3. Use a drill and drill evenly spaced 1/2" or 5/8" holes in the cup, so it looks like a whiffle ball. (see pics) 4. Get some old pantyhose (with no holes in the toes) 5. Pour in some activated carbon pellets in the toe of the pantyhose to make a "ball" that will fit in and fill up your drilled cup. This carbon is perfect: Marineland PA0371 Black Diamond Activated Carbon, 10-Ounce, 283-Gram 5. Cut off the top of your "pantyhose ball" and tie a knot in it. Make sure it completely fits inside the cup of the diaper pail. 6. Put the "pantyhose carbon ball" filled cup back onto the diaper pail (see pics) VOILA! You now have a SUPER odor-absorbent insert that I have found reduces the stinky diaper smell to almost nothing! If you want to add a little more mask to any smells, you can use scented kitchen garbage bags. If you feel that the smell returns, just make another activated "pantyhose carbon ball" and place it in the cup. I have been using the same "pantyhose carbon ball" with over 11 months of worth of stinky diapers from 2 babies and I still do not have any stink from the diaper pail. The carbon will last a LONG time! (Caveat: Obviously you will have an odor when you open the pail, but when it is closed, the carbon absorbs the odors and the pail releases no odor.) Check out the accompanying pictures for a visual on how I did this. I hope this helps! ENJOY!

Keeps smells in, has air freshener, works well
Excellent flip top lid. hold a large amount of diapers -- at least 3 days worth for 1 baby, maybe up to a week's worth of diapers. It comes with a air freshener that you can easily put in the can. However, the freshener that comes with the pail isn't strong enough to overcome the diaper odors. The space for the freshener is big enough that you can add more air fresheners or other types. I suggest that you put one that you like and is strong enough to combat the diaper smell. You will still get a combo smell of air freshener and diaper when you hit the button to flip open the pail to put a diaper in. It isn't bad though, just remember to CLOSE the LID!! When closed, there is no diaper smell unless you put your nose right on the pail and take a big whiff! (this was a dare not done for this review :)

Great can with two irritating shortcomings
This thing is excellent for the price, no doubt. The reasons I chose 4 instead of 5 stars are twofold: the obnoxiously difficult to remove sticker on the entire front of the can, and the pitiful excuse for a deodorizer included in the massive deodorizer capsule. The sticker runs the full height of the can and is adhered with the kind of sticker glue that makes it impossible to remove cleanly. If you don't want an ad for Safety 1st in your living room/baby room/etc, prepare to spend an inordinate amount of time and volume of GooGone to get it cleaned up. This is such a simple fix too: they should just use the static adhesive that is so common on other products so that it removes cleanly. The deodorizer tablet is the bigger gripe though, as it does absolutely nothing. As another reviewer noted, a pair of pantyhose and some activated carbon is all you need to fix the problem, but it can't be that much more expensive for Safety 1st to include a functional deodorizer in the box (or lower the price and not include one at all). Seems like they could even have an accessory that they could sell on the side by deeming the carbon filters as "consumables" and selling replacements. Despite those gripes, the can holds a ton of diapers, the bag is super easy to remove once it's full, and it does a decent job of containing the stink (my complaints about the deodorizer is the jet of barely-masked excrement smell that shoots out when you open the smaller pop top lid). Given the Coronavirus lockdown, I'm glad to have this in our now-frequently used living room instead of the tiny open can we were using before!

Love it!
The reviews seem pretty hit or miss on this thing. I needed something to contain dog poop smell from my patio. We take the poop out to the dumpster every night, but it would smell throughout the day as we kept it in a larger bag by the door. Enter this container. The price is right (twenty bucks, awesome) and it works as functioned. I found that I liked the deodorant disk, such a cool feature and the one it comes with works just fine for me. Now I have three dogs, two of them boxers and their poop SMELLS. Plus I get a lot of it. I noticed an immediate difference after I started storing the poop in this bin. I have also now been able to cut down my dumpster trips from every night to every few nights because this container contains the smell for that long! Maybe even longer, but I haven't tested it yet. I didn't buy any special bags for this...I just clamped the handles of a grocery bag inside and have been putting the dog poop (in those little poop bags) into the grocery bag inside the container. Works great!

What you need to know before thinking this is the one...
We needed another diaper storage solution for our main level and thought about another one of the pricey bins in our child's bedroom. Comparing pricing, we figured this night be worth a try. We're happy with our decision. Let's talk about where it lacks first: It's not metal and the plastic construction isn't overly thick. It's short (but the wideness makes up for it), and the gimmicky odor proof ball cap design could be entirely left out. So why get it? It does nearly (not the same level, but good enough) as good as a job blocking odors as our other brand name bin at 8 times the price. While it doesn't have the rubber gaskets, metal construction, and all the fancy pieces making it perform better, it's close and dollar for dollar a better buy. I don't think it will last to reuse for multiple children, you can buy 8 for the price of the other brand. It also can take any garbage bag (we use the odor blocking scented ones usually) saving the trouble of ordering ones designed for a specific brand (expensive). Would I replace the expensive version in our son's bedroom with this one? Probably not. Is this the perfect alternative for diaper disposal in other less needed areas of your home? Definitely.

Best diaper pail!
We received this as a present when my 3rd was born and immediately fell in love! There’s no device to stick your hand through unlike the diaper genies! You open the top with a click and there’s a round opening to put the diaper in. The button on top is not hard to push at all but isn’t too easy that when we eventually have a more mobile baby he will get into it. On the bottom of the lid Is a dome shape, where you can put in a deodorizer to keep it smelling fresh. After almost 5 months of use, we’ve never used it. Unless we leave the lid open, we’ve never run into an odor. Now the BEST part, you can use regular bags! No need to spend a ridiculous amount of money on those specific refills where you have to cut it off at a certain length and tie. Go get a basic garbage bag and you’re set! We ended up buying a second one for the bedroom as this was located in our living room for changes. I highly recommend, you won’t be sorry.

Does the Job
I bought this item to replace a nearly identical diaper bin purchased 8 years ago. That one serviced our first-born admirably, saw the deodorizer compartment fall apart for our second child, and had the spring-loaded diaper door break for our third. Not bad, considering it's an economy model and we got roughly seven years' use out of it. The one that just arrived did not have a retaining ring for the garbage bag as did our first, meaning the edge of the bag is tucked over the outside of the pail, instead of being held neatly in place inside - but this is a nicety I can live without. As far as odor control - what I've always done is wrapped about 1/2 cup of baking soda in aluminum foil into the shape of a ball, poked holes in it with a steak knife, and placed it in the deodorizer compartment; we've never had a problem with smells. [When the compartment broke on the first bin, I secured the baking soda ball in place with wire.] Part of this approach is that some of the baking soda sprinkles into the container with the opening and closing of the diaper door. Now, the one serious complaint I have with the new unit: initially, the diaper door would not stay shut. I fiddled with the tab on the door to get it to work, but it's not right. Usually it works, but I've repeatedly had to adjust the tab to get it to work properly. The problem is actually with the spring-loaded latch; it's sticking; I intend to take the one from the old pail and install it in this new pail, and hopefully it will last another 18 months or so until child #3 is out of diapers. However, if I was dealing with a newborn, this defect would have caused me to send the unit back for replacement, or perhaps consider buying a different pail.

No frills, but still going 4 years later!
So we bought this in 2015 and used it religiously every day until our child was out of diapers. Now we are still using the same one for our other kid 4 years later and it’s still in great shape. Initially, I wanted one of those cute looking Ubbi pails, but I didn't want to pay the price tag or have to buy proprietary bags. I also wanted to use it as a regular trash can, (for those plastic tags and ties on all the baby clothes). It is a basic, no frills diaper pail, but I love that it takes regular trash bags, and it holds the smell wonderfully. I cannot smell anything when I walk into the nursery, even after a couple of days if I forget to empty it. The lid can be opened with one hand easily and I love the small chamber deodoriser....ours did eventually fall off though, but I just used to put a baking powder tab in the bottom under the trash bag and it worked just fine. All in all, this is perfect. It can be prettied up with vinyl decals if you want it to blend in with your decor, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again.

Fantastic and Economical Diaper Pail
I am so impressed by this diaper pail! We have an Ubbi for our main floor change table but needed another diaper pail for late night changes on the second floor and were not prepared to spend $100+ on another Ubbi. This diaper pail has exceeded our expectations, especially given the price. It’s easy to use and locks in the smell perfectly. It uses regular garbage bags which was a must for us. I would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking for a more economical yet functional garbage pail.
