Alexis thinks the Cupcake Club feels incomplete—until she discovers that friendship comes in many flavors. Alexis feels lonely and left out when Emma goes away on a family trip. Sure, Mia and Katie are her friends too, but without her BFF Emma to round out the group, Alexis feels like a third wheel. Then when Ava comes to visit Mia, Katie is the one who feels like she just lost her best friend. Eventually all the girls realize friends are like cupcakes—you can never have too many! Review: Alexis and the Missing Ingredient - Alexis feels left out because, although she is with her 'best friends' Mia and Katie, her first best friend Emma is not in the city with the other three girls. Alexis can't help pairing herself with Emma, and pairing Mia and Katie together. Alexis does not like being left out, because she is used to having Emma by her side. I think Alexis's feelings and her situation were relatable, because no young girl likes to be left out. But I also personally think Alexis was a bit selfish in thinking that Mia and Katie would 'ignore' her because she thought that they cared more about each other than about Alexis herself. Alexis has always seemed a bit too serious for me. But still, this was a great read, and it was neat to see the girls spending time in the city for a change. We take turns reading to each other so I know how and what she's reading. These books are about drama, boys, fashion and cupcakes, lol. They're cute - I don't mind when she asks me to read these to her.
