How tall in inches will this get?

I find that my 17" laptop will get as high as 21" with the angle of support plate at first setting.

Is this a good tool to use for standing and using the laptop?

I use with my laptop while sitting or standing and it is great. I have also used it on my lap. It really alleviates wrist strain and even helps reduce shoulder and neck tension.

Can this be used for sitting in bed or couch?

If on your lap(flat) with the legs folded in, yes. Otherwise the width of the legs unfolded is too narrow to go over anyone’s thighs (to generalize, as wide as most 13” laptops. Another option would be to lay it beside you on either the bed or sofa and benefit from the raised height and tilt of the top tray

Can it hold Lenovo Legion Y740?

Subjective. I use it to hold an HP laptop that measures 16x10”. The only concern would be the tab that flips up in front to keep laptop from sliding h off may need to be modified—not very tall.
