This educational book explains the point of: - Numbers and counting - Shapes and measuring - Patterns and sequences - Probability and logic - Data and statistics Review: Unique - This book is fascinating for adults as well as children. I've never before seen anything like it, explaining what math is used for and great discoveries through the ages. The authors' efforts to strike a gender balance in what has historically been an almost entirely all-male field would be more successful if they looked to the more recent past, though, such as the enabling of artificial intelligence neural networks by the ImageNet picture database assembled in 2010 by Fei-Fei Li of Stanford University. Review: Makes Math Fun and Relatable โ A Hit for My 7-Year-Old! - I bought this for my son, and itโs been a fantastic way to answer that age-old question: "Why do I need to learn this?" What's the Point of Math? does an incredible job of breaking down complex concepts into visual, easy-to-digest stories. It shows how math is used in everything from sports stats and architecture to space travel and everyday life. For a kid who loves baseball, seeing how numbers work in the real world has been a huge lightbulb moment. The illustrations are vibrant and the explanations are clear without being condescending. Itโs transformed math from a school subject into a fascinating tool for understanding the world. Highly recommended for any curious young mind!

Good book!
I picked this book up for my 5-year-old. He has a talent/aptitude for numbers and math, but has only started reading... so this is advanced for him. But I figured that numbers and math aren't just a fun game to play... numbers and math are a language and tool that can be used to do some really big and important things! I do have to help him out reading it at the moment. But it's a very nice book, and I think that, in not-too-far into the future, he'll be able to read and enjoy it more.

I'm in love with this book
I got this for homeschooling. This book really answers the age old question, and it does it in a way that is entertaining and captivating. Great illustrations; great explanations and examples...for something that is technically a reference book, it's really a page-turner. Seriously, I enjoyed it so much that I have read it cover to cover just because it never stopped being interesting. There's a whole line of these "What's the point of" books, and I intend to get every single one of them.
