The Isle of Lewis Chessmen - Regency Chess Official Lewis Chess Set - 4 Queen Edition

I am so excited to play with my new chess pieces. I bought a board, 2 inch squares and they are perfect for it. I’m sure this is going to be exciting for the grandchildren to play as well. The quality is excellent and they feel substantially weighted. Felt bottoms.

We saw this style of chess set in the shows The Originals (Klause is great....brotha) and Castlerock. My wife thought they were so beautiful. I researched and found this set to be the best value for the money and purchased as a birthday present for her. The pieces are intricate and detailed and weighted appropriatley. You may need to purchase a larger board to fit these pieces properly. I purchase this one and found the solid style board to be a good match to this set. "Professional Tournament Chess Board Only. Beautifully crafted and detailed. A little pricey, but worth it. My wife is a McLeod, so Isle of Lewis connection helps to motivate her to learn chess. Well done.

I bought a big antique chess board and thought that a set of replica Lewis chessmen was the only thing that would do it justice (outside of stealing the originals from Scotland, that is). The product does not disappoint. The chessmen have lovely accurate detailing and a stone-like heft that feels old and authentic. The box has a foam slot for each piece, allowing for safe and easy transport if you don't want to use this as a display piece. For actually playing chess, this set would take some getting used to. The king and queen look a bit too similar. The castles look nothing like castles - they're represented by a silly footsoldier who is biting his shield.

I am not very good at chess but I am very interested in the history of these pieces. I regret not buying the set at the Scottish Museum last summer. I received this for my birthday and I love it. The pieces have amazing detail, are sturdy (with padding underneath), and high quality. I usually lose, but I enjoy the game nonetheless. We have also recently purchased a set as a gift for someone else.

I think this is overpriced. The craftmanship is not bad, but no more than average. The felt at the bottom is of low quality I think it's reasonable to be ~$75.

First of all it is a very expensive chess set. But the collection provides great quality also the historic value made the set worth the price(for me). !!!there is no board included!!! As in the discription said. Which could be more obvios.

Bought this to replace an older, (now damaged), set of pieces which in turn I’d bought years ago to go with a stone chess board I’d picked up in a car boot sale. Delighted with these. They look like they were made for my board. There were cheaper options on Amazon, but felt I wanted something that looked high quality, and these do. Has two queens, (which is a rare bonus). Doesn’t come with a board obviously. Nicely packaged. It look’s amazing.
