I really felt I was making a mistake buying this but it works, and is easy to clean. I would only use thick products, like creams, not like oils, because it will drip if the oil is too thin. That said, it worked great with solid coconut oil.

This is not a sponge and will not absorb any product but put it all on your skin and is great for suntan lotion, moisturizers, soaps and reaches your back top to bottom. Then just rinse it clean-can wash off with cleaning soap or alcohol anything or just rinse with water. Had my first one for years-no mold or mildew so when I met someone that had an itchy back and lived alone I sent him one from here. He loves it and can wash and moisturize his back and stop the itching! Worth it!

I bought this to apply biofreeze and epsom salts lotion to my back and shoulders. I live alone and don't have anyone to apply it for me. This is PERFECT!

The applicator pad is smooth but the handle bar is a little stiff. I wish it curve more, it would make it easier to apply the cream to the back.

Staying in my house so much with this pandemic going on, my normally smooth skin has gotten terribly dry. I am applying a lot of lotion now, much more than I used to. I needed something to apply it to my back, and this applicator does the job very well. It does not come with extra pads, and doesn't need to, the way it's made. The head is solid, but porous enough to hold the lotion, yet I can see that it's not something that would wear out very soon and need to be replaced. It's just fine for me. The makers went a little overboard, though, by finishing the wooden handle with some kind of lacquer, which is very nice, but it gets slippery after a while unless you can keep the lotion off your hands (hard to do). A better handle would be like the wooden ones (with loofahs) in my shower -- no finish at all, providing a much better grip. The lotion applicator also has a plastic handle on the wood handle, which really gets slippery for me, so I don't use it. It only takes a tiny smudge of lotion on my hands to have trouble with the handle, even though I try to be very careful. It doesn't stop me from using the applicator, however. I like the hook that came with it. Hanging it on the wall above the tub/shower is very handy. A very thoughtful touch. I like this applicator very much and recommend it highly.

Bought this for me wife, I don’t really worry about lotioning my back?? My wife however does, and it works very well, guess you’ll have to buy new pads at some point as only a few are included with the device(?). Anyways, if you gots to lotion your back, and don’t have a wingman/woman to do it for you, this is the jam. Handle is long enough the ensure you reach all the hard to reach spots without dislocating your shoulder in the process.

This seems to work well. I can't really tell how well the lotion worked into my skin but I used it on my back after a shower and I did not have that "Itchy dry feel" when I went to bed. It is, however, a little awkward.
