Does this harden? I applied it yesterday and it's still very soft and sticky to the touch.

Stays soft for three or four days and any light rain up to two days after application will wash some of the mastic out. Waste of time using it outdoors unless you are expecting at least three or four successive dry days.

What sort of top fitting does this use please, as nothing included ?

The nozzle should have been included. Otherwise you need a standard nozzle that fits 350/380ml cartridges - evo-stick gripfill solvent free for example. I would return.
