I have to admit that I had my doubts about the quality of the sword when I saw how battered and taped up the outer box was. The sword was inside wrapped up in clear plastic. The wooden stand was in three pieces, inside a smaller cardboard box. Now I admit I don't know much about katana swords, but the sword I received looks nice and has good weight. It's exactly as pictured. The biggest problem I had was with the stand. It did not assemble easily and I had to sand down the edges of both slots in order to insert the upright pieces. Once I did that, there was no problem. I have no illusions about the sword: I'm not going to challenge a horde of Yakuza assasins with it, and I'm certainly not going to do a number like Michonne on The Walking Dead and start decapitating zombies. This sword is a very nice display piece. That's exactly what I paid for. UPDATE: 5/17/2015 - Still better than I expected. This sword is still in one solid piece. Nothing's fallen off and the blade is still gleaming and has not tarnished. Excellent display piece. I've gotten a lot of compliments from people when they see it. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants The Bride's sword at a very decent price. Review: Perfectly Fine - Its not the greatest sword you can buy, but for the price this one is the BEST. Be clear, its for display only. I wouldn't trust it to defend me in a fight with marauding ninjas or assassins. Besides, that's what a gun is for. If you're looking for a sword for your wall, table or costume this one is great. I actually sharpened it and was able to cut through a considerable amount of fruit in my backyard XD. It doesn't come very sharpened, but most swords won't for. I sharpened it and it worked great. Nothing has broken and it works amazingly well as a display piece as well as a functional sword. it isn't made of high carbon steel, so expect a little spotting if you don't take care of it and clean it.
