Philips GoGear MUSE 8GB MP4 Player 3.2 inch Touch Screen Display, Micro SD Card Slot, Video Playback and FM Radio - Silver

This has to rate as one of the worst purchases I have ever made - and I speak as someone who paid real money for a couple of The Fall's late 90s albums. My trusty, reliable and user-friendly little 8Mb basic Philips Go-Gear had served me well for a long time until I unpacked a bag after a trip to discover it had been lost or stolen, so with the model no longer available the obvious choice was a new product from the range, and as I have a large music collection I decided a 16Mb would be most appropriate, so bought this one. Big mistake. On unpacking and switching it on I soon realised it was somewhat less than intuitive, even with both the paper user guide and the PDF manual open. Still, I uploaded a few albums and it seemed to play them. It was at this point I discovered the device does not actually have a shuffle function. Now I'm an old fashioned music fan and when I'm on the train I like to listen to whole albums, but there are times, such as in the gym (which is probably where I use the thing most) when shuffle is better. I want a piece of kit that does both, just as my old GG and even the little unbranded £15 thing I had before it did. But no, it doesn't do that. For that you have to make a playlist, and to make a playlist you have to install the Songbird software. It was round about this point that my dislike of the product plunged into the realms of sheer hatred. Firstly, I don't want to "manage my music collection" in some unnecessary software package. But if needs must, I suppose. Secoondly, I've met some user-unfriendly software packages in my time but this outclasses the lot, even stuff I use at work that's been coded by people whose specialisation is clearly elsewhere and badly translated from Chinese via German. Eventually I find the bit where I can make a playlist, so I start the tedious process of adding tracks to it. 20 minutes later I wish I'd never set eyes on it. It has deleted everything I had already put on the machine and tried to replace it with, er, itself. Only this doesn't work. And if I try and upload by drag-and-drop as I did before but it won't have that either. I'm an electronics engineer and my partner is in software, we're not daft, and we are both utterly confunded. I now have a music player onto which I can not upload music. Never mind, it has a factory reset function - I mean that's two hours of my life I will never get back, but if that's what it takes... The screen goes blank. Good. it's going to restart any second. Except it doesn't. Let it charge for a bit and try again - nothing. Followed by a sense of relief that this ghastly thing is no longer part of my life. I'd read some of the negative reviews on here and thought how bad can it be - the answer is worse than any of them warned me. I've had a number of Philips products over the years, TV, household appliances, all sorts and every one of them until now has been great. But with this it looks like they've got a real turkey on their hands, at least were that not somewhat defamatory towards innocent turkeys. I've now bought a Sansa Clip which uploads, plays and shuffles music, doesn't desperately want to be an i-pod (Dear Philips, if people want i-pods they will buy i-pods) and was about half the price. Unfortunately as I did not buy it here I can't review it here but can seriously recommend it if, like me, your primary focus is on listening to music as opposed to having a trendy flashy looking gadget to show off.

after receiving two mp3 players due to the fact that the original one was apparently received by my-self!? acording to courier! the songbird application takes alot of cpu(Central processing unit) and slows every thing down crashing many many times and the player itself resets the time and date if turned off for more than two days, the radio cant get a good signal no matter whether you are up the hills or close to sea level? you cant equalize the the tones of sound on the player and the songbird one has no presets, so might as well leave it as it is. might update this in a few months, but as of now i wouldn't recommend this product to anyone its has too many flaws and the company need to make something a lot more reliable for the future! i hope they take everyone's criticism into mind before putting out a new GoGearMUSE! PEOPLE BUY SOME OTHER MP3/VIDEO PLAYER THIS ONE IS NOT WORTHY OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!

Ive been using the GoGear for a few months now and i quite like it. Its not perfect but the drag and drop is a good option and an SD slot is its biggest sell point, 16GB of internal memory is nice but add a 64GB card to the mix and you got some serious music. The only downsides are that the touch screen could be better and the navigation could be a little more thought out and a decent equalizer, but aside from that its a nice piece of kit.

I WILL KEEP THIS SHORT AND SWEET. THIS PRODUCT IS VERY, VERY GOOD. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS I HAVE A MILLION CD'S AND I COULD ONLY GET ABOUT 150 ALBUMS ON THIS MP4 PLAYER.BUT DO NOT DESPAIR, FOR I AM IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A 32GB MICRO SD CARD WHICH WILL TREBLE MY CAPACITY. HOORAH. FOR ANYONE PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT,I THINK THAT YOU WILL ENJOY IT, I AM.

The recipient loved mp3 but earphones broke whilst setting it up. Loved the look and easy to use. Good value item for the memory

I was so excited to receive this MP4 player, but my excitement soon turned to disappointment when I turned it on. Instead of going to a set up screen it came on in German so I could not understand what to do. I went on line and found the instructions which entailed me connecting it up to my computer, but every time I did, it caused my computer to freeze. nothing to do with the computer as it is a fairy new one right up to date. After I few more attempts I gave up and asked for my money back and to be fair, Amazon refunded my money within a few days without a problem.

As a fan of the Phillips Go Gear series (having owned the 2,4 & 8gb models)I've got to mention my complete disappointment with this 16gb model. After ordering my first one! & loving it for all of 3months, the device started to not power on or access 'songbird' properly as well as having a slightly sluggish touch screen. So I sent it back to the manufacturers who we're great & sent me a brand new one! Unfortunately this one has lasted about another 3months & will not charge up at all or access 'songbird' properly!! I really think 'Phillips' should have stuck to the drag & drop system used in your previous models, as I believe the 'songbird' media player tech is faulty & possibly a bit rushed to try & compete with ipod. Love your staff, love your drag & drop mp3 players 'Phillips' please brikng it back!!!

Can't be asked to spend to much time on this review. MUse will crash your computer, Muse songbird is not reinstallable on your PC. 4 Weeks it took me to realise that it was not my mishandeling of the device and the software but the device itself. All OVER THER INTERNET!! SAME problems reported by thousands of people. save your cash and get the ne samsung mini tablet witha 5" screen. PS Amazon got this piece of rubbish back. philips Customer services are rubbish. they migh as well not be there at all.

Objet performant et beau, le casque livré avec, est de bonne qualité.
