Nubuck & Suede DUO-Pack

Nikwax is excellent to use on your hard to clean Nubuck & Suede. Follow directions and this product will keep your gear looking and feeling new. Cleans and water proofs. Recommend by many active wear manufacturers. I let dry over night.

Pros: - Instructions are straightforward and easy to follow - 10 oz spray bottles Cons: - After one waterproofing spray application established the need for a disposable glove - Would not recommend using over your nice lawn or kitchen sink Overall: Excellent product; used on Danner, Garmont and Salomon with no noticeable change in nubuck or suede color, and unquestionable improvement in water beading! Five pair of shoes and I still have enough to clean two maybe three pair of boots and waterproof a pair or two. My recommendations; use a soft nylon brush to work in the cleaning and waterproofing solutions into your footwear, and wear at least one disposable glove, helps to work in the solutions also so your hands won’t smell something like silicone when you’re done. Update: Hiking 2 – 4 times a week it took two months before my Gore-Tex boots were again losing water-repellency. I am not disappointed, knowing how much water my boots warded off as I walked in water along various tributaries. No treatment is permanent, and it takes me about 10 minutes to apply Nikwax. I’m guessing one would get longer intervals between treatments if they don’t submerge their boots in water as much as I did.

Does it work for waterproofing on suede, it's intended use case? Yes. However, in the critical review, there are better waterproofing creams out there, particularly for boots and shoes. This product will not harm glues for glued on soles, and doesn't turn the suede I have much darker, like creams will do. But as a waterproofing agent, it is inferior to some other cream products, and actually,.....harder to apply as well. This would be better for small items that don't see a lot of water, or if for footwear, take the time and use it very liberally. It doesn't waterproof like Obenaufs or Danner, though.

Got this kit after a recommendation. Easy to use the soap application doesn’t easily squirt out but I found pressing straight down helps the soap apply. Helped cleaned up my pair of old Ecco boots from 2010, never cleaned Results looks similar to before slight color change

Item was difficult to use. This is two items, a bottle of cleaner/prep and a bottle of waterproofing. Impression 1). When opening the waterproofing bottle I found the product had leaked but the exterior cap prevented that leak from escaping. This was not obvious. I took the cap off and the trapped liquid went everywhere, countertop, clothing, and more. I also found the screw lid underneath was not tightened. This caused the product to leak. Impression 2). When using the cleaner I found it would not dispense. I had to jam my finger into the dispenser to get cleaning liquid out. This made it very difficult to apply. Impression 3). When I finally applied the water proofing agent I found the spray function was terrible, uneven and dripping everywhere. I had to very very tightly crank down the screw top. Overall the bottles seemed defective. This is supposed to be a reputable product. It is recommended by shoe manufacturers. NikWax needs to fix the product delivery. (NOT effective and NOT quality tags Amazon AI).

Waterproofed 2 pairs of Sorel boots with this, and it works great. You may have to take extra care if you have dark color nubuck (chocolate color). It may leave white marks if you put too much on. Also it will leave your fingers sticky if you touch the waterproofer and its hard to get off (although that is good for your boots).

Went hiking in the dead of winter with my lightweight Merrell Moab’s, was told by everyone else I was hiking with ‘those are not the boots I would bring for this’. Thanks to a through coating of Nikwax and prompt sock changes I was the only one who kept their feet dry (and warm) over the three day weekend. Out performing $300+ winter hiking boots. This is one of the only products I’ve ever bought that has truly outperformed my wildest expectations. Buy it. It works.

This is a great product, but I would like to provide some warning to its usage. This waterbased spray will take some time to dry after application. During that time, depending on your shoes' contours, the spray solution may accumulate at one region even when care is taken to avoid excessive application, and that darkened my nubuck leather. The watermark faded a bit over time and wear but is still quite visible 5 months later today. The product itself repels water well enough; just the application may require some care. So here what I do: 1) Use damp warm cloth to give shoes a good wipe down. It's fine to have the leather a bit damp before applying proofing solution. 2) Instead of spray the proofing solution directly to the shoes, aliquot the solution into a small container (I used the cap of an old contact lens case). 3) Use a soft bristle tooth brush, wet it with the solution and start gently brushing the leather. I think this gives great control to the amount applied to your shoes, while the gentle brushing massages the solution into the leather. The distribution is more even than spraying and you won't need to wipe off excess solution, which is a waste. Overall, the product is great. It works as intended while being environmentally friendly. Their online customer service is very responsive, even though their advice on rectifying my problem did not work (multiple washing). Admittedly, it's my fault for not paying attention to the proofing solution accumulating.
