**Q: Is it a darker or lighter brown more like a tan?**
A: The cap is really a mid brown, a shade darker than this picture. In fact the picture seems a bit reddish that the cap is not. It is not a dark chocolate nor is it tan. Regards, Bill @ Byrd's.
