This is such a fun book!
I bought this as a gift for my 9 year old nephew and he absolutely loves it! It was a lot of fun just to browse through it myself, too. The illustrations are great and there are so many things offered in this book. There's information about the wilderness, survival techniques, animals, stars, how to read signs, and there's also instructions of how to build things and how to play different games. In the back of the book there are stickers and pages designated for notes and sketches. Overall, this is a really fun book, it's interactive, and it's very playful, and age appropriate. I highly recommend!

Absolutely the best book I have EVER seen for a child!!
Absolutely the best book I have EVER seen for a child. There is so much in this book I myself couldn't put it down. I bought this for my great nephew who just turned three. I spend almost all my time in nature that I can. I want to teach my nephew all that I can about nature, survival, camping, hunting, navigation, fishing, wild edibles etc and this book is a fun way to do it. There are so many great fun activities to make his education fun along the way. I love that there is a journal and note section in the back where he can keep his own journal along the way through the years. What I don't like, is that this is specific to boys only. The information in this book is amazing and should be for boys and girls. I find that the girls book is lacking in what it provides unlike the boys book. I wish they had made the books for children in general and made them book 1 and book 2.

Great Activity Book for Boys 7 and Up
This is the second time I've purchased this book. The first time was for another one of my grandsons. This most recent purchase was for another grandson. The book has a variety of fun and interesting, and variously challenging actvities for boys (girls will enjoy this book as well) to do indoors and outdoors. I highly recommend it as it has activities a child can read about and do on their own as well as ones that need some adult supervision. The one thing that would be most helpful would be that your can read and follow written directions.

Get Out There and Do Stuff
This seemed to be generally age appropriate in terms of topics and the tone and content of the material. Some bits are silly or maybe childish but the overall coverage was good. A little bit of this and some of that, (bugs, snakes, rocks, night sky, and so on). Skills involved map reading, compass work, knot tying, and the like, which are exactly the sorts of outdoorsy things that are most on point. I like books like this to have a range of projects. So, there's a neat bit on how to make an emergency backpack out of a piece of material. Any kid could try that. Then you get a bit on lean-to shelters, which of course always look a lot easier to make than they are, but are worth a try. The upshot is that this is the kind of book that informs and gives a kid ideas, and is fun to page through on a rainy day. There are more advanced bushcrafts book, but this was certainly appealing as a starter. For what it's worth, there's also a "Girl's" book. I was getting a little annoyed with the "Boy's" angle since everything here is good for a girl to know, too. (Being in Colorado I prefer to think of the outdoors as gender neutral.) It wouldn't hurt boys to know about edible greens and it wouldn't hurt girls to know their knots, so maybe a copy of each should be on the camping shelf. Anyway, this ended up being both informative and inspirational and I could see it whetting a young adventurer's appetite to learn and do more, which is great.

Fun & well-designed
I got this for my 5 yr old for Christmas & I am really impressed with this little book. Really sturdy, thick pages, attractive layout, tons of stuff covered in a really accessible way. We tried the knot-tying the other day & he really enjoyed learning to tie his first knot! A lot if these types of books I find lacking, tedious, or just boring, but this is very well-done, & there is such a good selection it can appeal to a wide age range.

Great for Outdoors-y Kids (and those that want to be) :)
I gave this book as a Christmas gift for my nephew who's family does a lot of camping, hiking, going to the beach, etc. For a child that engages in a lot of outdoor activity (or wants to), this is a great book! Lots of useful information, safety tips and activities for himself as well as his parents ;) The book itself has a nice format, spiral bound with drawings and pictures and is engaging to the age appropriate child.

Fantastic book
My boys loved this so much we bought it for a gift. They have carried it everywhere in a backpack. Pulling it out and looking up projects and asking to buy things to complete them. This is a great idea for a boy who loves the outdoors.

Love this book!
We got this book for our son for his birthday. He told us he wasn't very excited about getting a book at first, but he ended up LOVING it! He reads it all the time and likes to do the things in the book. I found him in tears one day because he took the book outside and left it by his playhouse and got rained on. I was actually impressed with the way it held up in the rain, but we ended up buying a second one because he loved it so much.
