Winchester 1200 Modification needed
It when on easy and effortlessly in under a minute. The problem is, as another reviewer said, the top edge blocks the ejection port. To solve this I traced the outline of the ejection port and filed it down. It came out great and looks like it (the rail mount) came like that from the factory. This rail adapter only holds at the trigger locking pin and was skeptical at first but it is sturdy. There are two front plastics screws that support the rail mount at the edge of the trigger group just behind the loading port. The screws do not scratch or mar the trigger group. I was on the fence about rating this product 3 or 4 stars but while filing down the piece it was noticeably sturdy and of excellent quality. I had no problems with the trigger holding screw and fit perfect. It is directional and may be why others had issues installing or stripping it out.

Use loctite
This works great for my Stevens. Make sure and look at the warning about what trigger you have or it won’t fit. Saw a previous review of a guy complaining about it not fitting and the picture he submitted plainly shows he has the upgraded trigger that they tell you it won’t work with. And use loctite for the screw that replaces the pin for the trigger assembly and screw it in and work your action as you do it or it will interfere with it and you will have malfunctions.

Total utter piece of junk that should be removed from being sold on Amazon
The top of the mount fits a sight easily, BUT the part of the rail that comes down over the receiver and over the ejection port causes the shells to hang up on the rim. At first I thought it was the snap caps and I tried working the one that was stuck by the rim out by wiggling and twisting it gently back and forth a bit then decided to give up on that after a couple gentle movements so as to not damage the finish on my gun. I actually had to take the mount off with snap caps in the magazine with one stuck in the ejection port and one even loose in the chamber beneath it. Then after emptying it I reinstalled it and tried to use it with two real shells. (Safety on, pointed away, using the slide release) Well, the first went in the chamber fine, then, lo and behold, it hung up on the rim like the snap caps when ejecting it, with the second shell in the chamber under the one that was hung up. I should have taken a picture, I could literally hold the gun in mid air by holding the shell that was stuck on the rim. I tapped out the receiver trigger housing pin, (remember the one shell was hanging out of the ejection port like the snap caps were, the other in the chamber loose underneath it so there was no danger of either firing), removed the entire trigger housing and then just dumped the shells on the bed, went on Amazon, and returned this piece of junk. Don't bother with it, you cannot ever trust it to work, ever. Because it won't. The listing claims it is made out of 'T6061 aluminum alloy', which has to be the most plastic feeling squeezable malleable aluminum on the planet. I could actually fold it inwards almost to the point where the bottom sides touched on itself at the mounting screw by just pinching it with my fingers, and when I flicked it with my fingernail it sounded like, you guessed it, PLASTIC! Plus, it weighs hardly anything. There is very very little weight to this. Aluminum is light, but not air weight light, like, say PLASTIC! And I was not pinching it hard either. Google has this to say when I searched for 'is T6061 aluminum alloy bendable': Answer: '6061-T6 aluminum is tempered and notorious for not bending easily. From a bending perspective, it's always best to bend these parts in an annealed state and then temper them to the correct condition.' Which tells me it is NOT made of any kind of aluminum alloy as I should NOT be able to bend it, at all. THIS IS MADE OF PLASTIC!!!!

Like having a tooth pulled, it works but it's painful...
As advertised, the only problem is with a hard kicking slug the bottom rear corner impacts the top of my trigger finger knuckle painfully on every shot. I could probably get used to it but it's annoying. i'm shooting a 40 year old WInchester 1200, might be different on other guns.

Not a great fit
If you buy this saddle mount ,expect to do a lot of modifications to make it work. It puts a lot of pressure on the trigger assembly and the holes are not milled properly.

Needed a bit of adjustment
This fit on my Winchester 120 just fine, but it was a bit too tight for the ejector port, so shells kept getting stuck (probably because my shotgun is the older model of the 1200, which is what this part was actually made for. I assume it does not have an issue with that model better). If you have the right tools, it is a pretty simple matter to machine that part a bit higher, and now the shells come out smooth. It's very well made and sturdy and holds my sight very well.
